Alternative comedy is gradually making a niche for itself in Pakistan, with many comedians experimenting with what works best and gauging their audiences’ reactions so they can up the ante. One such comedian in the alt. comedy scene is Billatoon, a first-time writer and performer who is gradually amassing quite the following!

Billatoon, is a UK-based aspiring comedy actor and writer, originally hailing from Pakistan. Billatoon has just started his comedy career and writes in Urdu/Panjabi. During the summer of 2021, Billatoon wrote and shot a pilot for a multilingual sitcom, centred around the larger-than-life and whacky character, “Bill Pa”. The pilot is available on his YouTube channel as a 5-part web series. In Dec 2021, he created a spin-off talk show for Bill Pa, and in March 2022, Season 2 of the show started streaming with a new storyline.
But Who Is The Comedian Billatoon?

Billatoon’s comedy focuses on the minor details of life. He plans to continue finding comedy in places where most don’t go. His grand plan is still to create at least one full season of his sitcom, ‘Sham Pam’. If he manages to get a team in place, we may be soon seeing the full ‘Sham Pam’! It may be hard to believe, but Billatoon is a Certified Chartered Accountant! He grew up in Dubai, where he completed his GCSE’s/A-Levels and started his professional career, before moving to the UK. In terms of comedic inspiration, Billatoon divulged to FUCHSIA that he is a massive fan of Amanullah Khan, who greatly influenced his early comedy experiences while Dave Chappelle and Katt Williams are his current favourite comedians.
Never A Dull Moment In ‘Bill Pa Ka Sham Pam Show Ka Show’

Welcome to the world of Bill Pa, where serious national and global issues are irrelevant, and the minutiae of life are grand.
Bill Pa is larger than life character, who has no life! He is a recluse, socially inept, and proud of the fact that he has no friends. In Season 2, we see Bill Pa embark on the journey of becoming a niche comedy brand, with the help of, no, despite the help of Billatoon, the whacky Ustaad Joora, and the adorable little DD! So get ready to be educated/laugh-out-loud on themes like: should mothers be admonished for calling their ugly babies ‘shonu’ in public, do clean swear words exist and much more because this is just the beginning! Moreover, the web series is produced and edited by Quack Quack Communications based in India. This is such a great example of an Indo-Pak collaboration!
While alternative comedy might not be everyone’s cup of tea, it’s always fun to shake things up. With an abundance of zany characters and interesting themes, the web series is definitely worth checking out!
