Cube croissants are the new trend in desserts! There, we said it first. Here is what Delina’s cube croissants tasted like….

So, are cube croissants the new talk of the town? Yep, seemingly! Many eateries, bakeries and cafes are coming up with their twists and takes on the cube croissant, not just a pastry but also a whole dessert on its own. It’s not just the talk of the town but also being drooled over globally, so obviously we gotta catch up to the trends and fast!
Many layers of dough baked together with a center filled with multiple delectable fillings. Rather than rolled, the dough is cut into equal-sized squares and stacked prior to baking. So, we searched up a couple places in Karachi with cube croissants and Delina seemed to be a promising option with just recently having added this to their menu.
We ordered their box of three, so 3 cube croissants in a cube box. Get it? No…? Never mind, back to dessert talk…We compared its prices to the other bakeries offering the same and found them to be affordable. We ordered 3 flavors: Espresso, Choco Brownie and Strawberry Sunrise! The cube box costs Rs. 1050!
Was The Croissant Buttery Soft?
While the croissants were not really it for us – the pastry was a bit dry, the layers were too many and made the croissant a bit too stiff. We struggled with breaking it apart even while cutting it with a knife. We thought croissants are supposed to be fluffy, smooth and buttery soft. So don’t expect your usual light as air croissant. But still it was decent.
Now let’s dive in to the star of the show; the delectable fillings! Delina sure did ace the flavour, combinations and taste of the fillings.
Strawberry Sunrise
The croissant is filled in the centre with an in house fresh strawberry jam with layering of custard and biscuit. Don’t skip this one when ordering. We are not kidding when we say, this one was A HIT at the office. The strawberry and custard combo was absolutely delicious. It was a very balanced sweetness, refreshing and not overpoweringly sweet. It was devoured within minutes!
Choco Brownie

A classic chocolate croissant is tough to beat, no? But this was close (would have even surpassed the classic if the pastry was just a tad lighter and fluffier). The cube croissant was filled with a chocolate centre and sprinkled with fudge brownie bits on top. The chocolate flavour definitely proves they used good quality chocolate, it was really good and smooth. Would taste so good with a cup of coffee.
Espresso
They describe it as an Espresso Creme Croissant filled with rich creamy coffee custard with a toffee cookie crumble on top. The presentation was super cute.
Just a side note, if you are expecting a strong coffee flavour, you won’t get that. True to the description, it’s a coffee custard filling so there was a balanced, faint coffee flavour. Again, a well-balanced, subtle flavour, not heavy at all.
Our Verdict On The Cube Croissants
While we clearly loved the fillings, the pastry was not the best part. It would have been though if it was as smooth as the flavours. Though when we sliced the layers in half, the filling to pastry ratio became just right. The many layers, dryness, stiffness of the pastry was not ideal and it didn’t qualify as a croissant for us. We would eat it as a separate dessert on its own because considering it as a croissant will dash your expectations. We must add, the cube croissants are well priced considering the other exorbitantly priced alternatives in the market. So yes, you should definitely try it for the sublime fillings!
