As Eid u Fitr draws near, Muslims all over the world can’t help but feel for the unspeakable loss the people of Gaza, Palestine have suffered in the past 6 months. The recent hashtag trending on twitter/X #EidWithGaza is a manifestation of our helplessness, and urge to do something, speak, act and show solidarity for those who cannot speak, or act, or have lost others who stood beside them … in solidarity.

It is hard to wrap one’s head around the destruction, loss of human lives and sheer suffering, that continues to plague the people of Gaza and Palestine today. 6 months onwards from October 7th 2023, when it all started, and despite repeated calls for ceasefire, the inhabitants of Gaza have been left with a terrible real life nightmare. While the world preps to mark Eid in the 2024, Gazans did not get any respite in Ramzan and Eid might be a bleak reminder of all that they have lost in a matter of days.
#EidWithGaza is the trending hashtag that is fast making a silent protest, just like the water melon, keffiya and trending artwork on our social media feed that has created awareness and also, served as a space people can come together to show solidarity with the Gazans, when all else has failed.
