He explained that he doesn’t like to label characters, believing that the world is filled with all kinds of people. To truly capture them, an actor must first understand that the role is not a reflection of themselves, but someone else’s background, lifestyle, fears, and inspirations. Emmad shared that he carefully analyzes each character to figure out how much he shares in common with them and where they differ. He emphasized on how he works hardest on aspects of the character that are far removed from his own personality. He starts by finding reference points and building the character from there.
When it came to Adeel, Emmad gave a lot of credit to the writer Farhat Ishtiaq and director Badar Mahmood. He found Adeel’s character both challenging and inspiring, praising the way he was written with such a captivating persona. “The writing had such an interesting decorum or demure, he came across as a challenge, it was inspiring for me,” Emmad shared. He also mentioned how he’s observed real-life “show-offs” and how those experiences helped him shape the role of Adeel.

Emmad likened this journey to a child’s development: as they learn to crawl, walk, and eventually run, they inevitably encounter injuries and falls. Each stumble is a chance to improve and grow.
He also reflected on moments in his life when he felt like giving up. Emmad admitted that there were times he doubted his worth, believing he wasn’t good enough and feeding himself negative thoughts. Emmad shared that in September 2022, Badar Mahmood reached out to him with a project pitch. At that time, he was busy with the release of a movie alongside Shoaib Mansoor. Emmad also mentioned receiving a call from Fahad Mustafa but ultimately couldn’t move forward with the project then. Fast forward to 2023, about 15 months later, Badar approached him again with the same project. Although the cast had changed since the initial pitch, the mention of Fahad convinced Emmad to get involved.
When he spoke with Badar, Emmad expressed his gratitude for being considered, to which Badar replied that he had not only considered him but also waited for him, emphasizing their friendship. Upon reading, he found himself captivated by the script and the character of Adeel. The intricate details Farhat Ishtiaq included for each character and situation drew him in, and he was engrossed, finishing the script in just two weeks without skipping a single scene.
The production was set to begin in late 2023, and on December 18, Emmad arrived in Karachi to start filming. Before that, he worked on Adil’s styling and overall look, with Badar emphasizing the need for high-fashion, out-of-the-box ideas. Badar encouraged him to be bold and imaginative with the character’s appearance.

Emmad shared that Fahad Mustafa has always been a hero and a significant inspiration in his life. He recalled the first time he noticed Fahad back in 2009 while sitting in his office, listening to a song for Zong directed by Saqib Malik. From that moment, Emmad started following Fahad’s career and became aware of his reputation as a renowned actor.
Emmad highlighted how important Fahad was in his career, especially during the project Cheekh, where he faced a lot of opposition. Fahad stood up for him and believed in his talent, which Emmad appreciated a lot. He said that Fahad’s support influenced everything that happened in Cheekh. Later, Fahad casted Emmad in Jalan, showing his continued trust in Emmad’s abilities. Even when Emmad took a break from acting, Fahad still wanted to pitch him for roles. However, Emmad was working on another project with Shoaib Mansoor at that time. Despite this, Fahad always believed in Emmad’s potential and thought he could perform well, no matter the challenges.
