The Aurat March 2023, which takes place annually on International Women’s Day in Pakistan, has become a symbol of resistance and empowerment for women across the country. While the march is primarily organized by and for women, in recent years, more and more men have been showing up to march alongside them.

This year’s Aurat March saw a significant presence of men, not just as allies, but also as activists and advocates for gender equality. The sight of men walking in solidarity with women, chanting slogans demanding equal rights and an end to gender-based violence, is a powerful statement that challenges the deeply entrenched patriarchal norms and values that have long oppressed women in Pakistani society. Their presence is inspiring and signals a growing awareness among men of the need to dismantle toxic masculinity and join women in the fight for gender justice.
