Faraar: Painting A Sad Picture That Might Be Uncomfortably Close To The Struggles Of The Common Man

Finally, Fasih and Batish face each other. Though we love Faraar but that cell phone ringer giving away Fasih’s presence was probably the lamest twist in a very interesting story. How can someone like Fasih just forget to turn off the ringer during a secret night operation? (A big eyeroll here). Batish on his bike, giving that challenging look to Fasih had a vibe of its own.

Faraar has been doing a great job till now, keeping us hooked and surprising us with very interesting, unpredictable twists supported by great editing and direction. But this episode fell short. Initially showing Fasih waiting for Batish and Batish approaching Sadia’s house, but then the creators drew a stop right there and instead, moved over to the other tracks. Unfortunately, this time, the attempt to fan audiences’ curiosity did not hot the mark as we totally forgot about the Batish and Fasih encounter and got invested with the rest of the story.

Fasih’s mother commenting about Fasih and Sadia being like each other was inappropriate and there was no need for that.

Thank Goodness Fasih managed to get the hint and caught Naseer. But the QIP workers have already reached the college to get Batish’s address. Looks like both the police and QIP in hot pursuit of Batish will finally lead to his ‘Faraar.’

Both the police and QIP are going to Batish’s college to get his address. That cannot be his current address. This must be his original address because it is from his college days. But is Batish planning to seek refuge there or will that uncover another clue for the police? The drama is revealing Batish’s backstory, how he too, was a student with dreams like all his friends who are now doing well and settled unlike him. At what point in time did he became disillusioned and became a hitman for a political party?

This is also the story of many Pakistani youth once upon a time, who fell victim to the actions of influential politicians and youth political parties, after being disheartened by the system. They were used by those in power and promised their rights and a brighter future. But alas, they were often just used for political aims and the country and people have paid heavily for this dark moment in our history.

Thank you drama creators for showing the DJ Science college building. It is always great to spot a part of the city as part of the story frames, and adds a sense of belonging and relatability to those who are watching.

Batish’s conversation with his friend about Dunki makes us curious if the story is now moving in that direction, highlighting the entire process and the dangers associated with it. It will certainly be a very different topic but for sure, something that the masses might be able to relate to. It can also lead to educating people why not to take that route, no matter what.

But then people like Batish choose that route despite every danger, as he says: “I would rather die a donkey’s death than a dog’s death”.

Finally, we get why the car was shown in the previous episode where Nazish and Akmal were talking. They seem to have a room in the garage with the car so they can escape easily as Nazish did. We were hoping Nazish would do something, come up with a plan to save Akmal somehow but she just took the money and ran away miraculously hoping that Akmal will be left alive.

Shakila is finally happy, she has taken revenge. However, the police calling Shakila and informing her over the phone in a cold manner about the death of her husband seemed really off. Maybe the police could have been shown to come over and inform her in person. Also the scene with Shakila’s response could have been executed better.

The most frustrating track is Babrik’s where no development is happening at all. Just a lot of talk. It is also sad to see promising talent wasted in this manner.

The question remains: how will all these characters meet up eventually?

With both Nazish and Batish on the run now, will we see them finally meeting up next week?
