Too much happened and you blinked? We get it. From major headlines to moments you might’ve missed, here’s your quick scroll through everything that had Pakistan (and beyond) talking this week.
1. Renowned Naat Reciter Tabinda Lari Passes Away

Prominent Pakistani naat khwan Tabinda Lari has died after a brief illness related to a heart condition, hospital authorities confirmed. She had been receiving treatment for cardiac complications at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in Karachi for several days before her passing.
Lari was widely regarded as one of the country’s leading female naat reciters, known for her soulful voice and devotional performances that resonated with audiences across Pakistan and abroad. Over decades, her interpretations of Hamd, Naat, and Manqabat earned her widespread recognition on religious television programmes and at public gatherings.
2. These 5 Points Will Help You Decide If a Hasan Raheem Concert Is Your Vibe

Now, I’m not really a concert person. I like attending them in my mind—headphones on full blast, dancing around or pacing my room late at night. Real concerts? Too crowded, too loud, and hello, social anxiety screaming in the background. I’ve been there, done that, kind of enjoyed it… but honestly, I’d rather be watching from the sides. Also, I won’t call myself a Hasan Raheem fan (although my playlist has a number of his songs), but somehow I still found myself front-row at his concert. So how did I end up at this one, and what did I actually feel? That’s a story.
At this point, I feel like everyone’s been to a Hasan Raheem concert, if you haven’t, this article might just help you decide. Read up here!

4. Tumbler Ridge School Shooting: What We Know So Far

A tragic mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia has reportedly left ten people dead and twenty-five injured. The violence began on Tuesday afternoon when the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Canada’s national police force, were called to Tumbler Ridge Secondary School after reports of an active shooter. When officers arrived, they found six people dead inside the school. Another person died while being taken to the hospital, and two more were found dead at a nearby home, which police believe was connected to the school attack. Around 25 others were injured, with some in critical condition and others treated for less serious injuries.
Authorities confirmed that the suspected shooter was found dead inside the school from a self-inflicted injury. Police believe the shooter was a female, matching an earlier public description, but have not released her name or a motive. Investigators are still working to understand how the victims were connected to the shooter.
5. Who Is Sanae Takaichi, Japan’s First Female PM Who’s Been On Our Feeds Lately?

Sanae Takaichi made history in October 2025 when she became Japan’s first female prime minister, winning the vote in the nation’s parliament and stepping into a role that had been held exclusively by men since the country’s modern political system was established after World War II. She was elected with 237 votes in the Lower House, enough to secure a majority and confirm her as the 104th prime minister of Japan. Sanae Takaichi is known for her hardline conservative views. She has cited former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher as an influence on her thinking, and international media outlets have sometimes dubbed her Japan’s “Iron Lady.” Her policy positions include strengthening Japan’s defense capabilities, advocating closer security ties with the United States, tightening immigration, and pushing for economic reforms that mix fiscal stimulus with tax incentives. She has also spoken about revising parts of Japan’s post-war constitution to allow a more robust military role in regional affairs.
Japan’s political scene in early 2026 reflects a moment of both continuity and change. After Takaichi called a snap general election, her ruling LDP and its coalition allies won a supermajority in the lower house of parliament, giving her a strong mandate to push forward her agenda. This broad parliamentary support could allow her government to advance policies that broaden defense spending, tighten immigration policies, and pursue economic measures to combat inflation and support growth. Her leadership has captured the support of many voters, including younger ones who have been energized by her direct style and policy promises, a phenomenon some commentators have playfully called “Sana-mania.”
Now, with history made, the world is watching Japan to see what direction its first female prime minister will take next.
6. Trailer Out: Aag Lagay Basti Mein Promises Fun, Laughter, & A Whole Lot Of Chaos!

The biggest win of this trailer? Fahad Mustafa as Barkat. This is the Fahad we’ve been waiting for – that OG energy we fell in love with in Na Maloom Afraad. Barkat isn’t the one who creates chaos, but somehow, chaos always finds him. Whether it’s running from trouble he didn’t start, getting caught in absurd situations, or trying (and failing) to fix things, his frantic expressions and comic timing are pure gold. Watching him stumble through the mess around him is endlessly entertaining – relatable, chaotic, and hilarious all at once.
Opposite him, Mahira Khan as Almas is a breath of fresh air. Almas is bold, outspoken, brave, and street-smart – a character we haven’t seen Mahira play in a while. She walks into chaos and somehow controls it, while Barkat flails in her wake. Their dynamic is electric: she’s the storm, he’s the man holding a broken umbrella. The contrast promises arguments, eye rolls, accidental teamwork, and just the right amount of emotional beats to balance the comedy.
Now here’s something truly exciting: Tabish Hashmi, known for his sharp stand-up and hosting chops, is stepping onto the big screen for the first time – and in a role nobody expected. He plays a shady, dark character that instantly gives the trailer tension and intrigue. Watching Tabish trade his comedy stage energy for a sinister, mysterious presence is a delightful twist. It adds a new flavor to the film – a shadowy edge that contrasts perfectly with the chaos and comedy surrounding Barkat and Almas.
One of the most exciting things about this film is how it has opened doors for content creators and rising digital talent. The trailer features people like Ali Abdullah, Hafiz Raza Ahmed (famous as Marzi Raza Ki), Shehzaadi Samra, and others, blending seamlessly into the story. It’s refreshing to see a mainstream film give space to creators who built their audience online. This choice makes the movie feel modern, inclusive, and in tune with today’s entertainment culture.
7. Benito Bowl: Bad Bunny Turns the Super Bowl Into a Fiesta

Bad Bunny. Benito. That’s it. That’s all. That’s been running through my head non-stop. He’s my top 3 on Spotify Wrapped. He’s all over my socials — maybe I’ve rigged the algorithm, maybe it’s destiny. Either way, Benito, you did it again. First, he took the Grammy’s by storm — Album of the Year for Debí Tirar Más Fotos. And now? San Francisco (and yes, us at home, many time zones away, in our pajamas, living our best vibes) was losing its minds at the Super Bowl halftime show. Or as the internet has decided to call it: Benito Bowl.
The staging was insane. Sugar cane fields, piragua stands, jíbaros in pavas, La Casita in full color — Benito brought Puerto Rico to the biggest stage in the U.S. And the guests? Lady Gaga, doing a salsa version of Die With a Smile, Ricky Martin swooping in for Lo Que le Pasó a Hawaii, and a parade of cameos that made me do a double take: Pedro Pascal, Cardi B, Carol G and J Balvin. Benito Bowl was more than a halftime show. It was a love letter to Puerto Rico, to Latin America, and to everyone who’s ever vibed to reggaeton at 2 a.m. It was celebratory, political, flashy, heartfelt, and so us. I may not understand every lyric, but I feel every moment. And honestly, that’s enough. And Instagram algorithm and fan pages, keep it coming! Here’s a reel which sums up the halftime show perfectly!
That’s your week in rewind. Some stories will fade, others will grow – but for now, you’re all caught up.
