“In Barzakh, There Is An Event When The Souls Will Rise.” – Sanam Saeed On Barzakh!

Sanam Saeed is a prominent Pakistani actress known for her versatile roles in television and film. She has captivated audiences with her performances in popular dramas like Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Diyar-e-Dil, Mera Naseeb, Deedan, Daam and the list goes on. Besides her television work, Sanam has also made her mark in the film industry with movies like Cake, Bachaana, Dobara Phir Se, Ishrat Made In China, and recently released Umro Ayyar. Fans are looking forward to seeing her in the upcoming series Barzakh alongside Fawad Khan, premiering on Zindagi’s YouTube channel on July 19th.

Sanam Saeed On The Impact Of Playing Audience’s Favorite Kashaf In Zindagi Gulzar Hai

I wear Kashaf like a badge of honor now!

Sanam Saeed

Sanam Saeed shared her thoughts on the impact of playing Kashaf in the beloved drama Zindagi Gulzar Hai. She revealed that for the first three years after the drama, she felt overshadowed by Kashaf’s character. The audience’s strong reaction made her feel like she had to embody Kashaf in her personal and professional life. She worried that any wrong move, whether in her career or personal life, would shatter the ideal image people had of Kashaf. This pressure led her to believe she had to maintain Kashaf’s persona to continue inspiring and connecting with people. It took Sanam three years to break free from this mindset, realizing that she is an actor capable of playing diverse roles. To challenge the perception of her as only Kashaf, she took on different characters, like in Kadurat, to show that she could be versatile and also take on roles the audience might hate.

Sanam Saeed On How Her Parents Gave Her Wings To Fly

I think that’s the biggest lesson, “Never think that you are better than anyone.”

Sanam Saeed

She shared insights into how her parents supported and encouraged her throughout her life. She explained that many parents inadvertently limit their children, leading them to grow up feeling insecure and under-confident. However, her parents made her feel sufficient, whole, beautiful, and competent, which allowed her to feel confident anywhere. Sanam recalled specific things her parents did to encourage her, such as teaching her to help others, never feeling superior to anyone, and offering kindness. They never made her feel inferior and always supported and encouraged her work at home and school. This constant affirmation and encouragement gave her the confidence to pursue her passions. Even when pursuing acting, her parents supported her seriously, ensuring she had a backup plan but recognizing her dedication. Sanam also mentioned starting work in the VJing world at a young age, with her parents’ full support, which further fuelled her confidence and career growth.

Sanam Saeed On Typecasting In The Industry

Sanam Saeed addressed the issue of typecasting in the entertainment industry. She mentioned a conversation with a co-actor and colleague about playing older roles at a young age. There was a project where she suggested her colleague play the older version of a character. Her colleague responded, saying that times have changed, and actors now face more ruthless and lethal typecasting pressures.

I don’t know, but if I was ever given an opportunity to play any kind of role, I’d do it.

Sanam Saeed

This was surprising to Sanam, who always believes in taking on diverse roles. She emphasized that as an actor, her job is to portray different characters, regardless of their age or type.

Sanam Saeed On Playing Ruhina In Diyar-e-Dil

Ruhina was … People hated her because she was a dislikeable character.

Sanam Saeed While Talking About Diyar-e-Dil

Sanam Saeed shared her thoughts on playing Ruhina in the drama Diyar-e-Dil. She explained that people disliked Ruhina because she was an unlikable character, primarily due to her intense ego and her determination to hate the family. Ruhina’s ego was so affected that she refused to visit Daryal’s family or introduce her daughter to them, which was acknowledged as cruel and intense. However, she emphasized the importance of portraying characters like Ruhina to show the black and white shades of human nature. Sanam noted that many people have inflated egos and do not realize their impact on others. By playing such characters on TV, she hopes viewers might recognize similar behaviors in themselves and reflect on their actions.

Insights On Marrying After 35: Sanam Saeed’s Perspective

Relationship dynamics, I think tab hi smoothly jaate hain jab aap apne aapko samajh jaate ho.

Sanam Saeed

She shared her perspective on relationships and marrying after the age of 35, emphasizing the importance of self-understanding and acceptance. She believes that the foundation for successful relationships—be it friendships, family dynamics, or marriage—lies in understanding oneself first. Sanam pointed out that if one cannot comprehend one’s own complexities and strengths, expecting others to understand them becomes unrealistic. Therefore, she advocates for individuals to engage in self-reflection, self-dialogue, and self-acceptance, embracing their true selves authentically. According to Sanam, this self-awareness sets the stage for healthier relationships where both partners can accept each other as they are, fostering mutual understanding and harmony. She highlighted that reaching 35 brings a sense of maturity, as individuals have accumulated significant life experiences, which contributes to making more informed and mature decisions, particularly in matters of relationships and marriage.

Sanam Saeed On Working With Adeel Husain And Ayesha Khan

Adeel is good to work with and it was so lovely to work with Ayesha Khan too!

Sanam Saeed

Sanam Saeed shared her experiences working with Adeel Husain and Ayesha Khan. She praised Adeel, describing him as a very good and intense actor who enjoys taking on intense roles. She mentioned that while they appeared together in many projects, they only played a couple in Shukk, which was a positive experience. Sanam also expressed her enthusiasm about working with Ayesha Khan, who was hugely popular at the time. Although she had heard that Ayesha could be tough to work with, Sanam found her to be lovely and a joy to collaborate with on set.

Addressing The Silence On Sexual Abuse: Sanam Saeed’s Take

Sanam Saeed highlighted the critical need to openly discuss and address sexual abuse, especially within families where children are often vulnerable. She emphasized that sexual abuse is a pervasive issue deeply rooted in society, often perpetrated by someone known to the family—whether a relative, friend, or acquaintance. This familiarity often complicates matters, as victims may be reluctant to speak out due to fear, shame, or disbelief from their parents. Sanam stressed the importance of parental awareness and vigilance, urging parents to be mindful of whom their children interact with, who they are left alone with, and to observe any signs of discomfort or distress in their children. She underscored that denial or normalization of such incidents perpetuates a harmful cycle, leaving victims unsupported and perpetrators unchecked.

Sexual abuse is a very dark topic, a very prevalent problem in our society.

Sanam Saeed

Sanam further discussed the systemic nature of the problem, noting that societal attitudes and family dynamics often contribute to silence and denial. She pointed out that when children disclose abuse, parents may react with disbelief or minimize the seriousness of the situation, possibly due to their own unresolved trauma or fear of social stigma. This reaction, she argued, only exacerbates the trauma for the victim and perpetuates a culture of secrecy. Sanam advocated for a proactive approach, where parents equip themselves with knowledge and sensitivity to recognize and respond effectively to signs of abuse. She emphasized that addressing sexual abuse requires breaking societal taboos and ensuring that victims are heard, believed, and supported, rather than dismissed or silenced.

Much-Anticipated Barzakh: Sanam Saeed On The Mystical Family Drama

In Barzakh, there is an event when the souls will rise.

Sanam Saeed On Barzakh

Sanam Saeed expressed her excitement about the upcoming project Barzakh, highlighting its unique blend of family drama with mystical elements. She praised the script by Asim, noting his talent for weaving intricate yet simple storytelling. Sanam found Barzakh particularly intriguing due to its exploration of mysticism, contrasting it with other projects she has been part of. She explained that Barzakh, a term often unfamiliar to many, refers to a limbo-like state between life and afterlife, where souls await judgment.

In the context of the series, she noted a shift towards a male-centric narrative, focusing on the dominant father figure and incorporating dynamics with beings from other realms. Sanam emphasized that Barzakh delves into family dynamics amidst mystical elements, offering a fresh perspective and promising an engaging storyline for viewers.

It was wonderful to chat with Sanam Saeed and stroll down memory lane while eagerly awaiting Barzakh, hoping it achieves great success!
