Coming Back On Screen & ‘Case No. 9’
Aamina Sheikh revealed that the timing for Case No. 9 felt perfect. She was approached by Wajahat Hussain, who immediately impressed her with a clear and compelling vision for the story and her character, Beenish. From the very first conversation, she felt sold on the role, appreciating how thoughtfully the character was written – modern, confident, and relatable, yet modest and grounded.
She also shared how meticulous the team was in crafting every detail, from wardrobe to office design. The choices, like glasses, suits, and even the office logo on a cup, were all carefully considered to make the character believable and immersive. Sheikh was particularly impressed by the attention to subtle cues, such as changes in hair or glasses to indicate the passage of time, and how the show’s neutral color palette and art direction enhanced the storytelling. She expressed pride in the intelligent work being done in the industry and the way audiences are noticing and appreciating these nuances.
Reuniting With The Industry’s Finest
For Aamina Sheikh, Case No. 9 marked a special reunion with Saba Qamar and Faisal Qureshi – two actors she describes as pillars of the industry. Having shared monumental projects with both in the past, returning to screen alongside them felt like a full-circle moment. With Saba in particular, the connection went beyond work. Though they hadn’t stayed in touch over the years, stepping back on set together felt natural and effortless. Their bond, she said, was layered and mature – two women who’ve evolved through life’s different phases and could now connect on a deeper, more personal level.
Working on Case No. 9 wasn’t without its challenges. Aamina played one of her most restrained, non-emotive roles yet, a stark contrast to her usually cathartic performances. She praised Saba’s intensity and emotional depth, revealing how demanding the role had been for her co-star – both mentally and physically. For Aamina, the toughest part was memorizing complex legal dialogues and maintaining composure while performing in front of seasoned actors. Yet, she recalled how the entire team, including the cinematographers, supported her through it, turning the pressure into a shared, uplifting experience.
Faith and Family Influence
Aamina Sheikh shared that her relationship with Allah has always been evolving. She grew up surrounded by strong examples of faith, especially her mother, whose dedication and courage left a lasting impact on her. She always felt a deep consciousness and awe of Allah, which grew stronger through life challenges, particularly after becoming a parent. These experiences, she explained, helped her understand the idea of divine timing and intervention.
She also highlighted the impact of the people around her. Having role models who practice their faith gently and consistently creates a supportive environment where learning and curiosity flourish. She emphasized that faith is most meaningful when it’s nurtured without pressure, allowing both children and adults to engage with it naturally.
