Tazeen Hussain and Faisal Rehman shared their thoughts on the issue of harassment, highlighting that it is not limited to women but also affects men. Faisal pointed out that while society often acknowledges the struggles of women, men also face harassment but hesitate to speak about it due to societal expectations. He explained that men are expected to maintain their dignity and refrain from expressing their suffering, especially in personal relationships. According to him, in every culture, the dynamics between men and women evolve, and power plays a significant role in relationships.
Tazeen added that power dynamics are not always based on gender and exist in every relationship. While acknowledging that harassment of women has long been a part of society, she emphasized the positive shift brought by the growing “calling out” culture. She believes that people today, whether men or women, feel more empowered to raise their voices against harassment. The increased exposure to global conversations on such issues, she noted, has contributed to a healthier change in how society perceives and addresses harassment.

Tazeen Hussain reflected on her character Bisma and shared that there are very few similarities between them. She explained that Bisma’s circumstances and personality are quite different from her own, making it difficult to draw direct comparisons. However, one aspect she could relate to was Bisma’s struggle with Nashwa. As a mother to a 24-year-old daughter with a similarly strong and fiery personality, she found that dynamic familiar. Beyond that, she felt that her real-life experiences and Bisma’s journey remained quite distinct.

Tazeen Hussain believes some roles are destined to come her way. When approached for Qarz e Jaan, she initially hesitated, unsure about playing another suffering female character like in Yunhi. However, certain elements of the script intrigued her, and knowing Yumna Zaidi was part of the cast made it more appealing. One more factor that convinced her was Saqib Khan directing the drama. Since he had been a student of her father, she trusted his abilities, which reassured her that the project would be handled well.
Was Faisal Expecting This Response To Qarz e Jaan?
No, I wasn’t expecting it.
Faisal Rehman
Faisal Rehman did not anticipate Qarz e Jaan would receive so much audience love. Since he was returning to television after several years, he was unfamiliar with the kind of dramas currently resonating with audiences. He saw Qarz e Jaan as another family story, much like many others, and wasn’t sure if it would gain significant attention. His main thought was that the drama would help reintroduce him to the audience. However, to his surprise, it has turned into a major success.
