After conquering the Pakistani entertainment industry, Humayun Saeed has officially made his international debut with The Crown’s season 5. He plays Diana’s love interest, Dr. Hasnat and Pakistani fans were counting the days till they get to see one of their nation’s biggest stars on Netflix! “Feel privileged & honoured to be part of The Crown team. Thank you all for your warm wishes, your congratulatory messages and your appreciation. Means the world to me!’ he expressed.

How He Landed The Role
In an interview with The Express Tribune, Humayun revealed that when he was first approached for the role by his talent agent from London, he wasn’t aware that it was for The Crown. His agent couldn’t tell him the name until he signed an NDA.
“My talent agent approached me from London wanting to know if I would like to audition for an interesting show. He wouldn’t give me a name until I signed an NDA. It was only after I did, that I learnt I had been approached to audition for The Crown to play Dr. Hasnat Khan,” he stated.
After sending his audition tape and having a meeting with Elizabeth Debicki, he thought he had been dropped as they didn’t get back to him for a week but he was clearly wrong!
How He Prepared For The Role
Every actor goes through a preparation period before they start shooting for their character. Some roles require more research and preparation than others. We were intrigued to know how the Meray Paas Tum Ho star slipped into Dr. Hasnat’s character. Talking to The Express Tribune, he revealed that the first thing he did for the role was gain weight. Interestingly, as a part of his preparation process, he also took a workshop with a surgeon in the UK to get a know-how of how surgeons do things in a work environment.
The Crown’s season 5 is now streaming on Netflix. Go watch it if you haven’t and even if it’s not your cup of tea, watch it to get a glimpse of Humayun Saeed!
