As I sat contemplating the more than interesting accent of Irsa Ghazal on Ishq jalebi, involuntary laughter escaping me every time she uttered … anything? I wondered, when will Basim spill the beans on his attachments – friend-zoning Bela needed to stop … and … thankfully, it did!
Has Basim finally realized his feelings for Bela?

And, more importantly, is he willing to let go of his ‘foreign’ dream? The story unfolds rapidly (thank God for Ramzan dramas) and Bela’s mangni took a total of 2 episodes (correct me if I’m wrong) to begin and end, neatly done that!
And now that Basim and Bela finally did that thing – staring into each ither;s eyes, I mean, with a look of more than just cousin love, my heart skipped a beat!
Actually, to be very honest, my heart had skipped a beat previously when Basim warmed a plateful of khana for Bela and then she wept and…he held her hand. Why does a man heating food for a woman make me tear up, I dunno, perhaps because the man was Wahaj Ali might have something to do with it? I dunno that too! But… does it really matter?
So, as I was saying. That eye contact was just a culmination of what had already transpired in the dining room. And yes, my heart had already done the flutter. Madiha Imam that hopeful expression in your eyes when Basim expresses his (near love) for Bela was very well executed I must say.
But abhi samaaj ki deewar baqi hai folks, don’t sit back and relax, just yet.
Samaaj ki deewar meaning the entire tabbar at home and especially Bau Jee! Bau Jee ko kaun samjhaye ga? Will he agree to a Basim-Bela business (and personal) partnership?
On another note.
It’s great that Bau Jee finally sponsored Bela’s business yet we wish it had happened before the nakaam magni.

Why do we see career as an outlet for girls only when their personal life doesn’t work out? What about managing both together? Saima Akram Chaudhry, you did good by steering the narrative towards an azaadi ki fiza, however, let’s hope the Bau jee’s of this world soon turn even more free thinking and dream of a career for their granddaughters, as well as for their grandsons! That is not to say, wishing them a happily married life should not be on the cards. But how about it laying it side by side?
On another note, we’re loving the chemistry between Wahaj & Madiha

My Fav Scene? Yes, you got that one right. When he warms food for her at night & she weeps at the dining table.
What about yours?
Keep on watching Ishq Jalebi for a fun take on Ishq, life, joint families and just pure love!
