Mission Successful
Fazal Baksh has not only successfully managed to infiltrate Shibra’s family but also won her parents’ hearts. Shahmeer on the other hand, has another plan in action to counter the party-breaking strategy of his party’s political opponents in Ishq Murshid.
Comedy Coming Easy
Fazal Baksh makes us laugh and brings out the most vulnerable side of Shahmeer as he meets his mother before going to Shibra’s house for the first time. His smart antics in the office to get his work done, to gradually win Suleiman Sahib’s confidence and trust are lighthearted and comic. Needless to say, Bilal Abbas Khan is doing an impressive job at executing the finer nuances of this character. In addition, Farooq Rind’s direction in these scenes must be appreciated.
The Ruthless Shahmeer
Shahmeer on the other hand is another person altogether. He seems clear and focused about what he wants and ruthless about how he must achieve it, not even caring about his friendship.
These three sides of one person in Ishq Murshid – the ruthless and focused Shahmeer, the vulnerable, soft and funny Fazal Baksh and thirdly, the person who carries both these roles within himself, and his imaginative encounters with his mother, make us question what is really going on. Do we spot some mental health issues, or a deeply embedded desire to be honestly and genuinely loved? The vacuum that was created with his mother leaving him, is Shahmeer trying to fill that vacuum?
Why is Shahmeer parking his car in the parking lot of “Jinnah Terminal”? We are really curious to discover this phenomenon. We are waiting to find out more on this one. Tell us if you have a clue?
Forced Moments
We wish the drama wouldn’t throw a forced moment on viewers, right in our face. Like Shibra’s mother undergoing pain and the family not being able to afford to visit the doctor due to financial problems. The neighborhood doctor could have been one immediate option, instead of waiting for month end to take her to a doctor once Suleiman Sahib gets his salary. This plot twist seemed too contrived, just so that later Shahmeer could be the angel who pays for the hospital expense – a obvious twist in the tale?
By the way … if you have been summoned to an inquiry once, questioning your conduct and honesty, you would certainly be very careful about someone else paying your Rs. 8 Lac bill. It can be used against you in future. Just saying….
