Aleezay mirrors the bit-by-bit breakdown of an abuse victim in Jaisay Aapki Marzi, and it might be triggering for many women who see themselves in the character. For others, there is a desperate urge to pull her out of this situation and save her before it’s too late.

Aleezay’s Breakdown
Aleezay seems to be completely shattered emotionally and Sherry is going crazy with rage and hurling insults at her and the family. Such is her mental and emotional trauma that she is not even aware of how Sherry is pulling her strings, totally dependent on him for her mental peace of mind, Aleezay needs to have the courage to walk out, but for every abuse victim, it is perhaps, only when they’re ready.
While many women might not go through the precise same abuse that Aleezay is experiencing, they are able to relate to many of the signs and symptoms she manifests and are desperate to pull her out before she falls into a deeper state of depression.
Well, if we completely ignore the fact that the drama mishandled Aleezay’s breakdown and hence, we are unable to feel for her, the narrative now shows that Aleezay is completely under Sherry’s control – mentally and emotionally. She believes she carries no value, and her importance lies in being Sherry’s wife – a belief that many women go through when they are defined by their husbands, when the husband’s happiness overshadows everything else in their lives. Sherry, a narcissist, who wants the whole world and especially Aleezay, to revolve around him, is just losing it since his in-laws didn’t give him the attention that he wanted.
Meerab’s Self Esteem About To Resurface?
Till when will Meerab put up with Natasha’s condescending and humiliating behavior? Natasha probably thinks she has him trapped because his sister is married to her employee so he will never dare rebel against her. Natasha is probably underestimating Meerab. Unlike Aleezay, he will not keep taking this attitude from her and will soon rebel. In fact, ordering lunch through Secretary Rubab seems a little fishy. Wait till Natasha finds out.
Natasha unlike Sherry doesn’t play games, she is direct and completely humiliates Meerab. Her strategy is to make him obedient and someone she can manipulate like a remote control, and to completely break his spirit. Sherry on the other hand doesn’t hesitate from lying and using the situation to his own benefit, like how he blamed Aleezay for not dressing up properly for Ramza’s event, which was really his own doing.
Parents Responsibility
But Aleezay’s father’s reactions are questionable. He has also made Sherry and Aleezay’s relationship an ego issue. It is more about defeating Sherry than caring for his daughter. Instead of solving things amicably, in a way where Aleezay would actually listen to him, and he can help her out of this mess. But she feels he has completely abandoned her.
Firstly, he should have added Sherry’s name on the wedding invite, knowing well how Sherry would feel and that Aleezay would have to bear the fallout from that omission. More so because he knows Aleezay cannot handle Sherry’s meltdowns. It would also have prevented Aleezay from feeling her father didn’t care about her happiness. However, on the other hand, it could be said that concern for Aleezay’s mental health is paramount and as of now, one wonders if encouraging any sort of interaction with Sherry is more damaging than helpful for her.
Aleezay & Her Current Family Terms
Presently, it is more about making Aleezay feel that her family is on her side, and she doesn’t have to keep defending Sherry before them. The number of times she repeated and tried to validate that “Sherry is really nice”, to her father, was enough for him to realize he must go easy on her for now, for her mental wellbeing, and this issue will need a calm head and time to sort out. If Aleezay has to find a way out of this relationship, she must have someone, her family, to talk to. She has to feel they are on her side.
Aleezay’s mother could have tried to salvage the situation by calling Sherry and insisting on him coming to the event. They should have also made an effort to invite Natasha and her father. But all three of them seemed to be quite unbothered by anything that was happening in Aleezay’s life and were more involved in the event. Tell us what you think of Aleezay’s deteriorating mental health and what should her family do next to save her in Jaisay Aapki Marzi?
