Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum: Catch The Review & Dream A Little Longer

We got the dreamy, romantic, and thought-provoking conclusion we all longed for. The finale served as a sweet miracle, redeeming a fragmented relationship in the last episode and securing Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’s spot as a timeless tale to be treasured forever.

Kudos to Fahad Mustafa and the producers. The finale was meticulously crafted and edited with the possibility of cinema screenings in mind, providing us with quintessential cinematic moments to cheer for, such as Mustafa’s successive triumphs and his march with the lawyer in jail to save Adeel. We have no complaints; we relished every moment.

A special mention to Fahad Mustafa for his heartfelt monologue when he finally voices his childhood traumas and scarring to his parents. It was a long scene and could have turned monotonous, but due to the transitions in tone and tempo, Fahad managed to capture the essence of it, as well as convey the intense pain and disappointment he felt as an adult child, who could finally express, verbally, exactly how he felt, navigating years of trauma.

A few Questions:

How does Rubab escape scot-free, without repercussions or lessons learned, especially after heartlessly evicting the parents? Was Adeel’s rescue necessary? Nonetheless, we are gratified to see the drama portray him reflecting on his actions and the reversal of fortunes. It would have been insightful to hear Sharjeena’s father’s perspective on Mustafa.

The Bench Conversation

The bench scene seemed like a feeble attempt to suggest they wouldn’t end up together. The dialogue was confusing and didn’t convey any regret from Mustafa. Moreover, it’s puzzling why Mustafa never visited Sharjeena at her parents’ home even once. Now, let’s reflect on the moments that brought us joy, tears, laughter, and applause, filling our hearts with love.

It was an incredibly touching and tearful moment when Mustafa handed the house papers to his parents. Finally, Sharjeena answered Mustafa’s phone, and we all breathed a sigh of relief, yet simultaneously feared she might not listen and just hang up. Did anyone else foresee Sharjeena being in the apartment when Mustafa’s friends summoned him to the old house? Our hearts raced as she exited the room, and Mustafa took his own sweet time to follow her.

The Precious Moments

We were unprepared for the profound impact of Mustafa and Sharjeena’s encounter in their old home; stepping into their world meant there was no turning back. Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum will fetch a permanent mark on your heart, making Sharjeena and Mustafa a perpetual safe space in your comfort zone.

The scene earned full marks for its aesthetic lighting, performances, direction, and execution, with both characters seated on opposite sides of the same wall, symbolizing their estrangement at that moment. Then, as they began to converse and Sharjeena moved to face Mustafa, he joined her on the bench, indicating their readiness to communicate and support each other. The choice to forgo a background score, focusing instead on silence and the sounds of their movements, was striking.

The conversation between the two was beautiful, demonstrating the necessity for a couple to communicate and stand by each other, as surrendering to life’s challenges is never a choice, emphasizing the significance of Nikah and commitment to a relationship. The drama preserved the charm of Sharjeena’s character and Mustafa’s profound connection to her in the final scene.

And so, they lived happily ever after, leaving us smiling with dreams in our eyes.
