Haji Mushtaq’s Intentions
By giving her the ring, Haji Mushtaq perhaps showed his intention that he is ready to accept her as his wife. Barbeena stops him from talking about Baran. She accepts her present reality very bravely and asks him to put the ring on her finger That shy smile from Haji Mushtaq was very endearing, Maybe leaving the family behind was what Barbeena and Haji Muhstaq really needed to accept the reality of their relationship. To be away from judgment calls, questions and expectations. To start anew in an area where no one knows them.
Barbeena’s Confession
What a beautiful scene, which made us shed a tear as Barbeena so honestly and with such purity shared why she married Haji Mushtaq. That speech by Barbeena made us realise what he had done for her. No matter what happened, he never left her alone. He left his family for her sake too, protected her and despite feeling for her, never acted in an inappropriate manner.
Ghaffar Falling To A Whole New Level
Ghaffar, was it necessary to show him falling to this level of ruthlessness and “Safaki”? His lust for Barbeena is evident and we didn’t have to go through a traumatic visual experience of him shamelessly accepting sleeping with another woman. Can someone please put some sense in Chammo and her family. Ghaffar will never change. It made one’s stomach queasy with disgust as Chammo looks at the bed and then agrees to make breakfast.
Powerful Storytelling
Kabli Pulao plays with our emotions cleverly, not letting us forget about Shameem. The two scenes shown in parallel – Shameem’s and Barbeena’s, were pure genius in execution. And the accompanying soundtrack just made it all come together beautifully. While we are happy for Barbeena, we can’t stop feeling sad for Shameem. The story is probably preparing us for the moment when Barbeena might leave Haji Mushtaq’s life and Shameem might enter it once again and we, as viewers, will be ready to accept it.
