The promo for ‘next episode Khaie’ hinted at unpredictable events. Is it a chance happening, or are these calculated moves by Zamda? Is she seeking revenge?

Saqlain Abbas is the credited writer for the drama, Khaie and it is directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain. Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi take on the role of producers under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment.
The ensemble cast features prominent actors such as Faysal Quraishi portraying Channar Khan, Durefishan Saleem as Zamda, Khalid Butt as Duraab Khan, Noor ul Hassan as Darwesh, Uzma Hassan as Gul Wareen, Laila Wasti as Bareera, Osama Tahir as Badal, Shuja Asad as Barlas, Mah-e-Nur Haider as Apana, Shamyl Khan as Gulab Khan, Hina Bayat as Bakhtawar, Saba Faisal as Husn Bano, Javed Jamal as Badshah Khan, Nabeel Zuberi as Pamir, and Hassan Noman as Shanawar. This diverse and talented cast brings the story to life, hopefully adding depth and dimension to each character in this compelling production.
Khaie essays the ancient tradition of eliminating the male members of an enemy’s family in order to discontinue their lineage. The story is one of revenge, a reign of terror and possibly, how the “good vs evil” saga will play out against a backdrop of conspiracies and violence. The multi-character plots aim to engage audiences in not only the core storytelling but also the personal lives, family dynamics and villagers’ lives of living under a ruthless rule of torture and savagery.
Zamda: Righteous, Intelligent & Fearless?
We see Dure Fishan once again, portraying a righteous, intelligent, fearless and nation-loving daughter. She aims to build a school in her village to contribute to the education of children alongside her to-be husband Badal but tragedy has struck…what we feared and perhaps hoped would not happen, has taken place. The practice of Khaie has been done, the brutality and injustice has been done.
Zamda’s First Show Of Strength Has Intrigued Us
Zamda’s father and two brothers were shot on what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of her life. The shock of this tragedy seems to have shaken her mother, Husn Bano, to the edge, rendering her mentally unstable. However, Zamda’s silent strength has proven remarkable. Despite crying, pleading, and begging to go home, she soon regained her composure. Dealing with the situation with resilience, logic, and sense, she surprised us all. Despite being in a disadvantageous position, she dares to set a condition before agreeing to marry Chanar Khan.
Zamda Might Not Be Our Average Damsel In Distress
The immensely lethal Duraab Khan even agrees to it, signaling the beginning of what we hope will be a heroine unmarred by the cliché of being a damsel in distress but rather, one who sets ablaze the lives of her family’s murderers. We envision Zamda as a heroine who is intelligent, calculating, and instills fear in her opponents. Despite being surrounded by powerful men and women in a predominantly tribal setup, she might just knock them all down like chess pieces.
Will This Help Paint The Strong Pashtun Women In The Right Light?
Despite all the unsettling violence, regressive behaviors, dialogues, and ideologies, to being called out by the Pashtun people for misrepresenting the region and painting them in a negative light, perhaps Dur e Fishan’s character Zamda will cast strong Pashtun women in a new light. The promo shows Zamda settling in, figuring out the members of Duraab Khan’s family, and the part where she tells Chanar Khan’s son to go to the rooftop, who is soon seen to then be shot by a stray bullet perhaps. We wonder, will that be a calculated move Zamda has made, a dream sequence, or, is it just highlighting the dangers of aerial firing and a chance occurrence?
Will Zamda be the heroine who dares to seek a brutal revenge, or will she leave us with dashed hopes? What do you think? Do let us know in the comments below.
