They’ve done it before, and they’re doing it again, Khushhal Khan and Ramsha Khan return to light up your screens in the much-awaited drama Biryani.

So, the whispers were real… Khushhal Khan and Ramsha Khan are officially back together on-screen. For weeks, there were quiet murmurs about a potential new drama starring these two, and ARY Digital has now confirmed it with the first look of their upcoming drama serial, Biryani. Interestingly, it’s dropped earlier than expected, and it’s already starting conversations.
The teaser is finally out, and our first reaction? It’s intriguing, visually grounded, and hints at a story that could leave an emotional impact. The drama is set to replace Parwarish, and if the first look is anything to go by, Biryani is bringing in a very different flavor.
Here’s What The First Look Offered:
It gives us a glimpse into what seems to be a story rooted in contrast – a simple girl, a soft-spoken boy, and a dynamic that flips the usual. Ramsha Khan plays a university-going girl whose life revolves around home and studies. But make no mistake: she’s no cookie-cutter damsel. She’s fierce, outspoken, and radiates that “I’ll say it like it is” energy. There’s a scene where she confesses her feelings – not with melodrama, but with raw, loud emotion delivered with a sarcastic edge.
Khushhal Khan, on the other hand, plays the “nice guy” – obedient, respectful, and, interestingly, ends up being her student. Not much is revealed about his backstory, but his presence in the teaser leans into the softer male lead territory that we’ve seen gaining popularity lately.
The first look positions Biryani as a love story that’s more than just the usual romance – something that touches on emotional distance, inner conflict, and relationships that evolve over time. The background music in the teaser has a familiar ring to it, drawing comparisons to the OST of Mera Yaar Miladay (another ARY production from a few years back), which may be intentional.
There’s also a brief shot of Sarwat Gilani, though her character isn’t clear just yet. Her look at the poster and in the first look hints at a more traditional antagonist angle, possibly the symbolic ‘zaalim samaaj’ figure – but we’ll have to wait for more footage to be sure.
The script is penned by Zafar Mairaj – the writer behind Kabli Pulao, Mann Jogi, Dil Wali Gali Mein, and several other emotionally layered stories that have struck a chord with viewers. His name brings a certain expectation: grounded narratives with a poetic undercurrent, often exploring love, longing, and society with depth. At the director’s chair is Badar Mehmood, known for hits like Balaa, Ishqiya, and more recently, Kabhi Main Kahi Tum – one of the biggest dramas of 2024. His work tends to lean into stylized visuals and tight pacing, so it’ll be interesting to see how his direction complements Zafar Mairaj’s more contemplative writing.
The release date hasn’t been announced yet, so for now, we’re just waiting for more teasers to drop.
