In a moment that feels almost surreal to Indian television audiences, the legendary soap opera Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi has made a dramatic return to the screen – 25 years after its original debut.

If you don’t know what happened in the Virani family 25 years ago, here’s a quick story recap for you.
Set in Mumbai, the show follows the wealthy Gujarati Virani family, who live in their mansion, Shantiniketan. The story begins with Tulsi, the kind-hearted daughter of a priest, who marries Mihir Virani, against his mother Savita’s wishes. Tulsi faces opposition but gradually wins over the family with her wisdom and integrity.
Mihir is presumed dead in an accident but later returns with memory loss. His caretaker Mandira falls in love with him, while Tulsi almost remarries for the sake of her son Gautam. Mihir eventually regains memory and reunites with Tulsi. Mandira fakes a pregnancy, and Payal, Mihir’s ex-fiancée, also plots against Tulsi but is exposed.
Tulsi and Mihir have more children – Shobha, Harsh, and later discover that Karan, Mandira’s son, is also Mihir’s. Tulsi adopts him. Over time, family secrets unravel: Harsh turns out to be Tulsi’s cousin’s son, and her real son Ansh grows up spoiled and becomes a threat. When he assaults Nandini, Karan’s love, Tulsi kills Ansh to protect her.
Tulsi is blamed for Savita’s death and is thrown out of the house. She’s presumed dead but survives and raises an abandoned girl, Krishna Tulsi, in Haridwar. Years later, Krishna comes to Mumbai to live with the Viranis. Tulsi returns, reunites with Mihir, and the truth about Meera’s betrayal is exposed.
The story follows the next generation – Lakshya, Bhoomi, Manthan, Eklavya, Krishna Tulsi – and their complex relationships. Family members face betrayal, mistaken identities, property battles, and shifting loyalties.
Eventually, Mandira, Tripti, and other enemies are defeated. The Viranis reunite, but Baa passes away, leaving her will to an unknown heir. In the end, Parth, Karan and Nandini’s long-lost son, returns, and Tulsi brings him home, marking a full-circle moment for the Virani family.
And now… the story returns.
After 25 years, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is back—bringing with it a new generation of Viranis, new secrets, and new battles. But at its core, it’s still the same heart – still Tulsi, still family, still the fight between what is right and what is easy.
The first episode of the second season aired on 29th July 2025, beginning with a warm, emotional celebration of Tulsi and Mihir’s 38th wedding anniversary – a fitting moment to reintroduce the legacy, the family, and the love that started it all.
