Mohammad Ahsan shared a fun and spontaneous story about how he landed the role of Zulmi in Gentleman. He recounted a night last August when he was feeling particularly down, crying out of frustration. Around midnight, he received an unexpected phone call from someone looking for him. Initially, he thought it was just another late-night disturbance, but it turned out to be an opportunity.
The caller asked Ahsan to send over some pictures and a showreel, urging him to record a scene. Ahsan, despite his frustration, decided to comply, and he washed his face, and recorded the scene on the spot. Within 10-15 minutes, he got the confirmation that he had landed the role, and everything changed for him. He felt an immediate rush of excitement, leaving behind his usual routine to dive into this new opportunity.
He later found out he would be working with the renowned Humayun Saeed, which added to his excitement. Although the process was demanding, from receiving clothing references to hairstyle instructions, Ahsan embraced every moment. He described the experience as refreshing and fulfilling, giving him a sense of peace and happiness he hadn’t felt in a while. Ahsan was outside, casually smoking a cigarette, convincing himself that Humayun Saeed wouldn’t really show up. But then, around 3 p.m. after Friday prayers, a white car pulled up. Out stepped Humayun Saeed in a sharp white suit and a red shirt, accompanied by Ahmed Ali Butt. Ahsan was struck with a mix of excitement and anxiety.
He shared that he thought, “Can I really act in front of him?” and took another drag from his cigarette. As the set was being prepared, Ahsan sat nervously in his car. Eventually, the assistant director called him over. To Ahsan’s surprise, he was summoned to meet Humayun Saeed, who was creating a scene inside a makeshift police station. Ahsan couldn’t believe it; his nerves were on edge.
Humayun Saeed’s calm and professional demeanor helped ease Ahsan’s nerves. He noticed Ahsan’s discomfort and took the time to guide him through his lines, even performing them himself to demonstrate. This experience, filled with star-struck moments and nervous laughter, turned into a memorable highlight for Ahsan, marking a significant moment in his acting career.
