Meri Zindagi Hai Tu – Is Kamyar normal, or does he have mental health issues that need to be addressed through therapy? Will Ayra’s “yes” magically resolve all his mental health and personality issues?

The lack of genuine love from his parents and the attention he gets only from girls interested in his looks and money has made Kamyar believe that Ayra will be genuine, simply because she isn’t impressed by his wealth or doesn’t fear his bullying. So in his mind, if she says “yes,” it will be sincere. He is desperate to fill the void of genuine love and attention in his life. Forcing her to say yes, disregarding whether she even likes him, and behaving erratically clearly shows that he needs help.

Kamyar is behaving like a toddler throwing tantrums, creating situations to make his parents appease him with a toy, except in this case, the “parents” is Ayra and her “yes” is the toy he wants. Can someone please tell him that instead of forcing her to say yes or pushing her to go out for coffee with him, he should give it time, try to get to know her through a mutual friend, or come up with a better, more respectful way to introduce himself and spend time with her—something that does not involve stalking and does not invade her personal space?

What does he gain by sitting outside her house all night or parking his car at the end of her street? Does he only want to look at her? He seems to forget that this could harm her and cause a scandal in her neighbourhood. Someone who doesn’t care about you and and your family’s reputation – should we romanticise him?

How can forcing someone to go on a date make them fall in love with you? Imagine feeling scared and suffocated during that time, not knowing anything about this person with you who genuinely seems like a maniac. How can anyone expect love to grow under the shadow of fear?

Or is the drama trying to prove that no matter what, when a girl is constantly pursued, she will eventually feel loved and say yes?Burning down someone’s car and then showing care and concern for patients at an old age home are extremely contradictory actions, more problematic than romantic, and reveal Kamran’s turbulent personality. He operates purely on emotions without any balance, stability, or self-control.

Just because he stopped her without holding her hand—and held her bag instead—does that condone his actions? Even we are confused, a part of your brain says: “This is so cute,” while the other says, “No, this is wrong.” The drama is probably making audiences experience this internal conflict, and in the end, many viewers may fail to resist the charm of Bilal Abbas and Hania Aamir – and end up fantasizing about such moments in their own lives.

One thing we appreciated were Ayra’s father’s words to her when they returned from the police station: “If someone stands outside your house, it is not a reflection of your personality. Why would you be insecure and meet a stranger? Don’t do anything under pressure that you don’t want to do.” This message needs to reach girls everywhere: someone else’s actions are not a reflection of you, and you do not have to prove anything to anyone.

Ayra teasing Falak about her fiancé’s big ears was cute and a bit overdone, but it did send out a warm family feel. What we fail to understand is: if the two of them (Falak and her fiancé) had already been talking over text, and Ayra seemed to be teasing her sister earlier, why was Falak so uncomfortable? Why did it seem like they were meeting for the first time? Can our dramas please go beyond asking this same line in every such scene: “Aap khush to hain na is shaadi se?” No, she is not unhappy, that’s why she has been chatting with you on WhatsApp!

Another positive moment in the drama was Ayra’s father ironing his own shirt despite being a working man, challenging how men should behave at home.

Kamyar threatening Falak’s fiancé in was funny despite being a scene we have seen many times. It made us smile despite being problematic and that’s the sad part. As viewers, we often fall for the actor’s charm and fail to acknowledge how wrong the actions truly are.

We could still accept or tolerate this storyline if the drama did not constantly romanticise Kamyar’s highly questionable actions.
