Three episodes in, and the buzz is undeniable. But if you missed out on season 1, you might struggle to keep up with the second season since its storyline is closely tied to the original. No worries, though! Here’s a quick deconstruction of Baby Baji so you can catch up on Baby Baji Ki Bahuwain without missing a beat.

Baby Baji – A Story Of Family Ties & Troubles

Baby Baji is a heartwarming drama set in the household of Baby Baji and her husband, Siddiqui Sahab. Legendary Samina Ahmed plays Rashida Begum aka Baby Baji, and veteran actor Munawar Saeed plays Siddiqui Sahab. The drama revolves around the complexities of living in a joint family system. Baby Baji and Siddiqui Sahab live with their four sons and their growing families. Siddiqui Sahab runs a shoe business, where his two elder sons help him with management. The eldest son, Jamal (played by Saud Qasmi), is married to Azra (played by Javera Saud, his real-life wife), and they have two children. Meanwhile, the second son, Naseer (played by Hassan Ahmed), is unhappily married to Asma (played by Sunita Marshall, his real-life wife), and they also have a child. The two younger sons, Wasif (played by Junaid Niazi) and Waleed (played by Fazal Hussain), are still studying when the story begins.

The drama takes off when Baby Baji begins her search for the perfect bride for her third son, Wasif, but this is where the twists and turns begin!

Jamal & Azra: The Power Struggle

Jamal and Azra, the eldest couple in the household, have two children—a daughter and a son. Azra is the classic troublemaker; she isn’t interested in maintaining a harmonious home or working alongside the family. Her ultimate goal? She wants to break up the household so she can live with just her husband and children. Azra constantly pressures Jamal to demand his share of the inheritance and leave the family home. However, Jamal, being the eldest, values unity and wants to continue supporting his aging parents. This tension forms the basis of their ongoing power struggle.

Naseer & Asma: The Unhappy Marriage

Naseer and Asma’s story is a tale as old as time. Naseer isn’t happy with Asma because she wasn’t his choice. Naseer wanted to marry a girl from their neighborhood, but Baby Baji put her foot down and didn’t approve, as she didn’t think the girl’s family was appropriate to have family ties with. Although Naseer eventually married Asma, he never fully accepted her. He mistreats her, neglects her, and barely speaks to her. Asma, on the other hand, is the complete opposite of Azra. She’s gentle, quiet, and devoted to her family, always striving to keep the peace.

Wasif & Farhat: A Marriage Interrupted

Wasif, Baby Baji’s third son, is a university student. A fellow student falls for him, but Baby Baji is against love marriages and has already started searching for a match for him. Eventually, Baby Baji chooses Farhat (played by Tuba Anwar) as Wasif’s bride, and the two get engaged. However, things take a dramatic turn on the night of their wedding when the girl from Wasif’s university attempts suicide. Her father, blaming Wasif, has him arrested just as the wedding festivities are about to begin. After much effort, Wasif is released, and the wedding eventually takes place. But Farhat turns out to be another Azra—she’s strong-willed, doesn’t believe in following orders, and wants Wasif to take up a job rather than join the family business. This leads to constant clashes between Farhat and Baby Baji’s family, with Azra fanning the flames. Both Farhat and Azra pressurize their husbands to demand their share of the property and move out.

Waleed & Saman: The Sweet Love Story

Waleed, Baby Baji’s youngest and most beloved son, is the glue that holds the family together. He’s caring, responsible, and adored by everyone. Saman, their neighbor, has been close to the family since childhood, and Baby Baji is fond of her. Waleed and Saman are in love, and their engagement brings a moment of joy to the household amidst all the chaos.

The Final Twist: Tragedy Strikes

After Wasif takes a job, Siddiqui Sahab is deeply hurt by his son’s decision, and his health begins to decline. Eventually, he passes away, leaving Baby Baji to hold the family together. Despite her best efforts, the constant infighting between her daughters-in-law tears the family apart. The sons, under pressure from Azra and Farhat, demand their share of the property and move out, leaving Baby Baji alone.

Waleed, who had been away for work in Lahore, returns to find his mother missing. He confronts his brothers, only to discover that none of them took her in. A neighbor reveals that Azra had kicked Baby Baji out of the house. With nowhere to go, Baby Baji ends up in an old-age home. Waleed searches every old-age home in the city until he finally finds her. Heartbroken, he brings her back, and Jamal, realizing the extent of his wife’s cruelty, throws Azra out of the house and begs his mother for forgiveness.

But it’s too late. Baby Baji, worn out by the constant battles, passes away. The sons, filled with regret, mourn their mother’s death. Azra comes to beg for forgiveness, but she finds Baby Baji lifeless, ending the drama on a heart-breaking note.

The story of all four sons continues in Baby Baji Ki Bahuwain. If you’re curious about what happens next with Azra and the others, catch up on Baby Baji Ki Bahuwain!

Baby Baji Ki Bahuwain was written by Mansoor Ahmed Khan and directed by Tehseen Khan. Produced by iDream Entertainment, the cast includes Saud Qasmi, Javeria Saud, Hassan Ahmed, Sunita Marshal, Junaid Niazi, Tuba Anwar, Fazal Hussain, Aina Asif, and others.
