Renowned Pakistani mountaineer Murad Sadpara has tragically passed away following a severe injury sustained while descending Broad Peak.
According to Ayaz Shigri, Vice President of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, Sadpara suffered a fatal head injury when a loose rock struck him during his descent from the 8,047-meter-high summit.
Sadpara, a distinguished climber from Sadpara Valley in Gilgit-Baltistan, excelled in mountaineering. At 35, he conquered Nanga Parbat twice in a single week. His contributions extended beyond personal glory. He joined the K2 Clean-up Expedition and recovered Hassan Shigri’s body from K2 last year.

Murad Sadpara joined a Broad Peak expedition. A falling rock struck his head at Camp One. Despite a daring helicopter rescue of four climbers by the Pakistan Army, Sadpara succumbed to his injuries. Severe mountain weather hindered rescue operations.
Sadpara’s legacy extends beyond his climbing achievements. He was widely respected for his dedication to mountain clean-up efforts and rescue missions. His commitment to preserving Pakistan’s mountainous regions was evident in his work and advocacy. Outside climbing, Sadpara supported his family by working as a tractor driver during the winter months.
