Nadia Jamil On Why She Did Faraar, Therapy, Self-Parenting, & More!

Nadia Jamil is a name that resonates with grace, strength, and sheer talent. A powerhouse performer, she has given audiences unforgettable characters over the years. She started her career during the golden era of PTV and delivered remarkable performances in dramas like Putli Ghar, Jaane Anjaane, Dhoop Mein Sawan, Durr-e-Shehwar and Mere Pass Pass. Later, she continued to shine in projects like Mera Saeein, Baaghi, and the telefilms Behadd and Balu Mahi. However, her journey hasn’t been without challenges. She battled cancer with courage, took a break from the industry to focus on her health, and made a triumphant return with Damsa, Jo Bichar Gaye, and Khushbo Mein Basay Khat. Now, she is engaging viewers once again as Shakeela in the currently airing drama Faraar. With her powerful screen presence and heartfelt performances, Nadia Jamil continues to prove why she remains one of the most beloved actresses in the industry.

Nadia Jamil Tells Us Why She Could Not Say No To Faraar

I tried to slip a lot but I couldn’t say no to Sana.

Nadia shared why she agreed to do a guest appearance in Faraar. She revealed that when her son started his business, many people from the industry supported him. Humayun Saeed, Wahaj Ali, Sajal Aly, Fawad Khan, Sanam Saeed, Kinza Hashmi, and Yumna Zaidi were among those who encouraged him. They had posted about Nadia’s son’s sweatshirts on Instagram, but Humayun Saeed went a step further—without her asking, he wore and promoted it, even on his wife’s birthday.

So, when Sana Shahnawaz approached her for a guest appearance in Faraar, Nadia tried to avoid it at first. However, she couldn’t refuse because, as she put it, they all need to support each other’s children. That was the main reason she said yes to Faraar. Nadia also mentioned that she had never played a role like this before. Though many believe Faraar is her first negative character, she clarified that her actual first villainous role was in Chaal, a telefilm where she played a woman who murders her husband.

One Thing Common Between Shakeela And Nadia Is…

Dekhain, ek cheez mere mein or Shakeela me jo similar hai, hum dono nidar hain.

Nadia shared that both she and her character Shakeela from Faraar have one thing in common—they are fearless. However, she believes that, unlike Shakeela, she has developed a strong sense of self-censorship over time. She described herself as someone who chooses to stay behind a veil, feeling uneasy when it falls.

This self-censorship was not always a part of her personality. In her 20s, she was more open and expressive, but as she grew older, she started adjusting herself. Various influences shaped this change, including the environment at her in-laws, her Quran teacher, and her experiences at places like Al-Mureed, where she frequently speaks to women. Her spiritual experiences, including performing Umrah, also played a role in deepening this mindset. Initially, she saw self-censorship as something negative, but over time, she has come to embrace it as a conscious choice rather than a restriction. Coming from a liberal and open-minded background, this shift was a personal journey for her.

Was Nadia Scared Of Getting Old? Hear It From Her

I never thought about getting old. I’m enjoying it a lot.

Nadia Jamil

Nadia shared that she never feared getting older—in fact, she is enjoying every moment of it. She explained that during her teenage years and twenties, she was a restless and confused soul, full of love but also a lot of anger. She felt scattered and vulnerable, which made her more exposed to hurt.

Even though she became a mother at 30, she still felt like a child. Looking back at her old interviews, she sees herself as an innocent girl who was still figuring things out. However, with time, and especially after battling cancer and undergoing NLP and MBET training, she found peace within herself. Now, in her 50s, she has built a strong connection with herself and appreciates every moment of life. Every line on her face, every bit of weight gained—it all tells the story of her journey, the battles she won and lost, the love she experienced, and the happiness and grief she felt. For her, aging is not something to fear but something to embrace with love and pride.

How Therapy Worked For Nadia – Find Out Here!

Mein ne ek cheez seekhi ke meri apny aulad se pehle mera bacha hai jiska mein ne khayal rakhna hai, aur wo Nadia Jamil hai.

Nadia Jamil shared that therapy helped her for a while, but the most valuable lesson she learned from it was self-parenting. She explained that before taking care of her children, she had to take care of her inner child—her true self. She reminded everyone that their body is constantly working for them—their heart is beating, their kidneys are functioning, and their brain is active. The real question, she emphasized, is how well they are leading themselves as a team.

Nadia Jamil Gives Some Tips, Especially For Daughters

Bohat important cheez hai, self care and self love.

Nadia shared that she wants her daughter to grow up feeling confident and loving herself instead of constantly worrying about beauty standards. She explained that self-care and self-love are essential because if a person does not respect or love themselves, they may face more disrespect from others and struggle to love others fully. She reminded everyone that taking care of one’s mental health is just as important as physical well-being.

She also emphasized the importance of teaching children—both daughters and sons—how to protect themselves. She shared that her daughter should never second-guess herself and should grow up with self-trust and confidence. Nadia mentioned that one of the most valuable lessons her father and husband taught her was the importance of respect and trust, which she wants to pass on to her own children.

She is with us today, and we can’t wait to hear more about her journey, her experiences, and perhaps even some exclusive insights about Faraar!
