Parwarish: Suleiman – The “Pakistani” Dad Who Took The Spotlight Last Night!

Parwarish just did it again. Suleiman made us all feel ‘okay’ in a not-so-okay situation.

In a time when desi parenting still mostly means “bas maar do, aur zillat ka certificate de do”, last night, Suleiman flipped the script. Not with a dramatic speech, not with shouting or guilt-tripping – but with silence, softness, and a hug that said everything.

Sameer made a mistake. And in a typical storyline, this is where the slipper would fly, the yelling would begin, and the shame would take over. But no. Suleiman chose understanding over anger. Love over judgement. And most importantly, humanity over perfection.
“Ghalti tou sabse hojati hai na, maaf kardenge tou isme kia hai”

That one line? That’s the line our entire generation has been waiting to hear. Not just from our parents, but from our society. It’s the line that breaks cycles. That holds a child’s hand instead of pushing them away. That says, “I see you. I know you messed up. But I still choose to stand beside you.”

We’ve grown up in a culture where mistakes often feel like life sentences. Where one wrong step is enough to cancel out every right one. Where disappointment drowns the chance for dialogue. But Suleiman did what so many parents don’t – he listened with his heart first. He let his son breathe. He chose connection, not control.

“Agar mein uski is ghalati par usay mujrim banaonga tou wo tou barbad ho sakta hai na.”
Yes. Exactly that. If you label your child a criminal, a failure, a lost cause – they begin to believe it. And once they do, how can they ever heal?
It was a statement. A powerful one. On behalf of all the kids who were never hugged after a mistake. Who were never told, “It’s okay.” Who were shamed into silence instead of pulled into a conversation.

Saad Zameer Fareedi delivered a performance so gentle, so moving, it felt like a warm hug through the screen. Abul Hasan as Sameer also held his role with such vulnerability – confused, ashamed, scared, and yet still trying to hold on. It was raw. Real. The kind of moment that reflects so much of our youth today – trying, failing, and just hoping someone, somewhere, gets it.

Through Suleiman’s character, Parwarish showed how parenting can be approached with understanding instead of control. Suleiman became a guide for any parent wondering how to connect with their child, how to build trust, and how to create space where mistakes don’t end relationships but start real dialogue.
