Alas Pyari Mona also takes the same old route of extra marital affairs. With so many potential and ongoing conflicts in the story, this plot twist seems completely unnecessary.

Baber still standing where we left him
Baber’s character deserved some growth, some development, especially after the death of his first wife. He should have learnt a lesson, learnt to appreciate the person and not just physical beauty but sadly, this is not happening. Without giving Mona much chance at a relationship with him, he took the easy route of starting life with Zee.
What is Mona supposed to do? Just take care of his daughter for the rest of her life?
The pressures of losing weight for someone else
Mona not backing off from the pressure of losing weight for someone else is a great message. She must do it for herself. However, perhaps, a conversation about the other aspects of Baber and Mona’s marriage and their relationship can be addressed by the two of them, to see if they can make any headway. Once the relationship turns positive, personal issues such as weight etc can be addressed, only if a partner wants to go there.
Starting a relationship based on weight management and the pressure to lose weight is not a healthy beginning. Unfortunately, Samiya’s loss has taught the family nothing.
Should Mona do more?
However, it will be unfair to keep giving Mona’s character leverage on the basis of her physical appearance and on the context of being a bechari. She must do more to prove that she can be a valuable partner who can communicate with sensitivity and warmth.
Mona’s Mom – A Mirror To Society
Mona’s mother also seems to lack any sense of self-awareness or introspection. She keeps asking Mona to lose weight, pushing the narrative that a successful marriage is all about looks and keeping your husband from having an extra marital affair has to be about staying attractive.
It is relevant to point out that Mona is a well-groomed person, she is not dressed shabbily or carelessly, in fact, her wardrobe is very much tailored stylishly. Hence, the difference of opinion between those who feel she cannot be a suitable wife, all comes down to her weight.
Pyari Mona highlights this point painstakingly every time we witness a Mona-Mom interaction. Safe to say, there must be many Monas’ who are watching this communication, we hope that many mothers or fat shamers are watching it too. As they say, it all starts from the family, or someone close to you.
Detective Work
We wonder if the father is really correct and Zee doesn’t really want a long-term relationship with Baber. She only wants to win him to satisfy her own ego. Zee’s toxicity will be quite epic level if that is the case. It is good to see Mona’s father taking action to get to the root of the matter.
Was The Extra Marital Affair Really Needed?
And the million-dollar question, should Baber be forgiven for this affair? Should any wife (including Mona) have to accept that even if he apologizes later, especially since he refused to have a relationship with her because of her overweight?
While Mona’s inner strength is uplifting to watch, the extra marital affair has added a bad taste in the mouth. Baber should not want to return to Mona only because he was exploited by Zee, but because of herself – will he ever be able to approach Mona for herself, and will she be able to forgive him when he does?
And lastly, tell us what you think in comments below, Can the pressure to lose weight wreck a relationship?
