Rang De managed to keep viewers invested from the very first episode till the finale. It delivered the perfect mix of emotions — romance, innocence, heartbreak, and negativity — all blended together in a way that truly connected with the audience. Here’s what the story was all about.
Rang De follows the life of Dua, played by Sabeena Farooq, a spirited young woman, and Ahad, played by Shehzad Sheikh. Dua lives with her mother, Nudrat, played by Sunita Marshall, and her grandmother, played by Samina Ahmed. Her father has passed away, and ever since then, the three women have been managing their dyeing and clothing business together. Alongside that, Dua is also a YouTuber and has a very energetic and positive personality.
One of their clients is Samina, who is Ahad’s mother. From the very beginning, Dua has one dream — she wants her mother to remarry and live a happy life again. Since Nudrat lost her husband at a very young age, Dua strongly believes that her mother deserves companionship and love just like anyone else. In fact, Dua makes it clear that she herself will only get married after her mother gets married first. Nudrat, however, has no interest in getting married again.
Many marriage proposals come for Nudrat, but none of them are sincere. Most of the men are either greedy for her house or interested in benefiting from her business. Some even expect her to continue working only for their own gain. Because of all this, Nudrat becomes even more disheartened and refuses to think about marriage again. But Dua continues encouraging her and insists that she deserves a second chance at happiness.
Meanwhile, a man named Tauqeer, played by Sohail Sameer, moves into their neighborhood. He slowly starts helping the family with small things and wins everyone’s trust. When Dua’s grandmother falls ill, Tauqeer takes her to the hospital and supports the family in different ways. Gradually, he builds a very respectable image in front of them and especially tries to impress Nudrat. Eventually, Tauqeer directly proposes to Nudrat. Since he appears caring and genuine, the grandmother and the family agree to the proposal, and eventually Nudrat also says yes. Soon after, they get married.
However, Tauqeer is not actually a good man. He is a fraud who works for a powerful and influential man named Azir, played by Azfar Rehman. Azir is already married to a woman from his own family, but after seeing Dua somewhere, he becomes obsessed with her and wants to marry her as well. To make that possible, he sends Tauqeer into Dua’s family so he can manipulate the situation from inside.
At the same time, Ahas also starts developing feelings for Dua. He genuinely likes her and eventually sends a marriage proposal to her house. The family accepts it, and Dua and Ahad get engaged. There is also another subplot involving Ahad’s sister’s sister-in-law, who is deeply in love with Ahad herself. Since Ahad does not return her feelings, it creates tension and problems within his sister’s married life. Despite all the pressure around him, Ahad remains clear about his feelings for Dua.
After the engagement, Tauqeer begins trying to delay Ahad and Dua’s wedding because he wants enough time to convince Dua that Azir would be a better match for her. But Dua’s grandmother refuses to delay the marriage. To stop the wedding from happening, Tauqeer takes a horrifying step and gets the grandmother killed. After her death, the wedding is postponed, and a police investigation begins.
During the investigation, Ahad starts suspecting Tauqeer and Azir, although he is not fully sure about either of them at first. Slowly, misunderstandings and problems continue increasing, and eventually Ahad and Dua’s engagement breaks off. Later, Dua gets engaged to Azir instead.
As the wedding preparations for Dua and Azir are underway, the truth finally begins to unfold. Nudrat overhears Tauqeer talking to Azir on a phone call and discovers that Tauqeer was responsible for her mother-in-law’s murder and had been deceiving them all along. Around the same time, the police arrive at the wedding venue, and Tauqeer and Azir are finally exposed and arrested for everything they had done. Azir’s wife also reaches the venue and learns that Azir had been deceiving her all along as well.
In the end, justice is served. Dua and Ahad reunite, get married, and finally get their happy ending together. Meanwhile, Nudrat starts focusing on her business again and begins rebuilding her life with strength and independence.
