Week Ending: 10 July 2021
(The Beginning of a New Chapter)
So our favourite couple is now officially married and they’ve finally turned the page to a new chapter in their lives. This week in Shaurya and Anokhi ki Kahani we saw a lot(!) of family drama as Anokhi tried to settle in and make the Sabharwal mansion her home while subsequently making a place for herself in everyone’s heart. We saw her juggling to become the perfect bahu while also preparing for her exams. Talk about multi-tasking!
As Shaurya and Anokhi embark on a new journey they are faced with many obstacles in between. To be honest this week I personally felt that SAAKK took the path followed by other Indian dramas: a heap of misunderstandings to frame the innocent bahu of the house, saas -bahu drama, evil sister-in-laws who vow to make the life of their brother’s wife hell instead of helping her to settle in.
In addition to all of this, we also have Shagun; a jealous lover who has made it her life’s purpose to not let the couple live happily. I mean like, why is Shagun still living with them? We still haven’t found out why Shagun left her education (which btw was the reason she broke her engagement with Shaurya) and decided to be a doormat in Shaurya’s life. Her track feels unnecessary and one that I am sure the audience needs a break from.
Furthermore, we saw Anokhi taking part in various ‘rasams’. Unfortunately, from her first day in the Sabharwal house, she has faced many challenges. The rasams were adulterated thanks to the unnecessary meddling of the members of the household who did not wish Anokhi to be there. However, Anokhi being the exemplary figure once again made the audience fall in love with her; as we saw her patiently and gracefully handling all the problems while taking out time to study for her exams. My favorite rasam scene was when Astha gave Anokhi a pen in her mun dekhai. It was her way of showcasing her support to Anokhi and that she will fully support her in her career.
Our Thoughts
Kudos to the makers who have incorporated such important messages in this drama which we never get to see often (or you can say never). Anokhi standing up for her rights to complete her studies and build a career for herself was applaudable. Honestly, it’s sad that women have to even fight for their rights to education and getting a job. However, showing characters like Anokhi who are willing to take a stand for themselves is an inspiration for others to follow. It depicts that your willingness and dedication towards your goals can help in changing the mindset of others.
The Perfect Couple
And once again, Shaurya takes the medal for being the best husband. The way he supports Anokhi and encourages her makes us all dote on him. Such positive characters and healthy relationships like the one shared by Anokhi and Shaurya should be shown more often as they set an example of how a modern couple can lead their lives. Furthermore, we cherished the awe-worthy moments between the newlyweds. They just complement one another in every way!
In this new chapter, we hope that the confusions created by the family members do not lead them to doubt one another. And yes, addressing the elephant in the room – I was devastated to hear about the possibility of SAAKK going off air and so are all the fans. We just hope that it shifts to Hotstar and we are not deprived of our precious show.
