Shehr-e-Zaat is a story of a young woman’s journey as she strives to make up for all the time she has lost in worldly pursuits & finally given in to Allah’s will. After experiencing some harsh realities of life, she travels from Self to Subsistence.
Mahira Khan’s Role!
Mahira manages to transform a deeply unsympathetic, self-centred & vain character, into a vulnerable & empathetic one, (despite her flaws). Falak’s beauty, her wealth & social status have blinded her to the realities of this world. She despises ugliness & cannot appreciate the human being hidden by a grime of poverty.
The Characters
Every actor has delivered their best ─ Hina Bayat, Samina Peerzada &, of course, Mohib Mirza. He has done a simply outstanding job as Humza, Falak’s best friend & would-be suitor. We simply must mention Mansha Pasha, Falak’s friend Rushna, who is like a breath of fresh air every time she appears on screen.
A Spiritual Awakening in Shehr-e-zaat!
The heart of the story is about spiritual awakening. A sharp contrast is drawn between the Sufi concepts of ishq e haqeeqi. The love of a human for God, & ishq e majazi, the love of a human for another human. It’s not an easy accomplishment.
