Sinf-e-Aahan delivered yet another light-hearted episode this week that helped the audience unwind after a hectic day
This week’s episode revolved around the seven girls reaching PMA in Kakul and hinted towards the challenges that lay ahead of them. The episode began with the much-awaited entry of Sheheryar Munawar as Major Usama. This episode had an emotional touch to it as the girls parted ways with their parents and spent some last moments with them before their training began. Lastly, the spotlight on the army was shone in a natural way, interspersed between several scenes. So far, we are definitely in love.
Sheheryar Munawar as Major Usama
Sheheryar Munawar finally made his appearance in the sixth episode of Sinf-e-Aahan as Major Usama. To be honest, he just fit right into the narrative without feeling forced. All credit is due to the incredible writing and direction that made his entry to the story seem so natural. Major Usama by all definitions ticks all the boxes that are expected from a perfect, dedicated to his job, army officer. He is a family man with a wife (who by the way does not seem to be too happy to be in Kakul – we wait for her story to unravel) and a daughter.
We cannot let go without mentioning a trivial yet amusing statement that Sheheryar Munawar seemed to catch Sidra’s attention in an instance. She manages to spin a humorous take on most situations and this one was no different. Aarzoo’s reaction that ‘we will become the handsome ones ourselves’ was equally amusing!
It was entertaining to watch Mahjabeen’s mom standing under the umbrella shade and her father, attempting to approach Major Usama in all manner possible – the distinction between civilian life and army discipline was underlined in bold as Usama responded: “Alhamdullilah sir, yahan foj ne de diya hai jannat mein Allah talah de de ga.”
But, later what won our hearts was the scene where he helps Pariwesh’s father in ensuring him that the Sardar (leader) would be no trouble to them. The entire scenario was well-handled and certainly in a way that was not expected. The hug that Pariwesh’s father gave to Major Usama with gratification and relief written all over him, was perhaps, the crowning moment that won our hearts!
Insight Into The Last Moments Of Sinf-e-Aahan’s Seven Girls With Their Families
The last moments where the girls are about to bid farewell to their families were well captured. The micro detailing is to be appreciated, making us relive the moments where the families were parting ways with their girls.
Firstly, Yehali Tashiya Kalidasa was looking great as Nathmy Perrera. We look forward to following her journey in the PMA. We already know she has a feisty side to her personality ever since the moment she fibbed that she does not know Urdu!
As far as the other six Sinf-e-Aahan girls are concerned they were in character as always. From the way Mahjabeen took off her sunglasses to the way Shaista refused to accept money from her father, all the scenes held our attention. Each of the narratives not only push women empowerment but the drama also continues to educate us on the finer points of army life. E.g. Shaista mentioning that she will get paid for her training period, and arrangement of vegetarian options for Sri Lankan cadets.
We adored how Sidra and Arzoo’s characters were shown standing together while their parents met. It just represents the religious tolerance that should be ideally practised in our society and kudos to Umera Ahmed for adding this track and giving us role models to live up to. The duo of Shaista and Mahjabeen rocked the screen as always, while the animosity of Rabia and Mahjabeen still persists and we anticipate their back-story to unfold in the upcoming episodes.
On the other hand, Arzoo’s phone call with Noraiz was hard-hitting. We could not help but feel empathy for Arzoo and hope that she gradually develops the strength to move on. Her not sending her picture and cutting the phone call was symbolic of her character‘s growth and we are hoping to see such gradual development.
Overall, Sinf e Aahan is a great watch. It is light-hearted and yet, is sending the right messages. We eagerly wait to see the journey of these seven Sinf-e-Aahan women in PMA – which certainly is not going to be an easy one!
