Netflix’s new Korean drama Take Charge of My Heart has a distinctive storyline, yet it has failed to win over most viewers.

The series premiered on October 9, with Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin in the lead roles.
The story follows Baek Ho-rang, a chaebol resort executive whose artificial heart is running low on battery. Na Bo-bae is a TV scriptwriter who gained high-voltage electrical powers after being struck by lightning as a child. Ho-rang needs her to charge his heart for three months, until he can have an operation to replace the battery.
Here is why it failed to impress:
- A promising start that fades. The premise is interesting, but the show soon turns dull.
- Little chemistry between the leads. The central pairing never sparks, which hurts a story that depends on the two of them.
- Weak execution. The storytelling lacks engagement and fails to connect with the audience.
- Uneven performances. The acting, especially from the male lead, could have been better.
