Tamasha Season 5 started this week, and the first two episodes have been very underwhelming to watch, and, honestly, a rather painful watch at times.
We were really looking forward to Tamasha Season 5 after the massively successful season last year, but the contestant lineup, the rules and everything in between mean that Season 5 hasn’t really kicked off the way it should have.
The Contestants
I have to say, the rumoured contestants were far more exciting than the actual lineup. I was really excited to see Mizna Waqas, but sadly, she didn’t join this year.

1 Crore Winning Amount, But Is It Really 1 Crore?
You’re offering the contestants a winning amount of Rs. 1 crore, but then giving them absolutely no food, no tea, nothing for breakfast, no points and no games through which they can earn ration, only to introduce something called the Tamasha Cafe, where they can spend money, which will then be deducted from their final winning amount.
What exactly is the logic here?
Why show them a Rs. 1 crore winning prize and then give them almost nothing to eat, while offering something as simple as coffee for Rs. 3,000, knowing that every purchase will eventually reduce their winning amount?
What was the Tamasha team expecting from the contestants? To starve all day just so they could save their prize money?
This makes absolutely no sense.
The Contestants Are Trying Too Hard To Be Seen
Some of the contestants are trying really hard to get noticed, and it is honestly coming across as extremely cringe.
Esra, for instance, seems to be trying too hard to become the Saima Baloch of this season. Picking fights with everyone, shouting and screaming for no apparent reason, it is honestly becoming a pain to watch and listen to.
Similarly, Samiya Hijab seems to be trying too hard to come across as cute and lovable to the audience. Acting foolish, pretending not to understand things and constantly portraying herself as overly innocent just doesn’t seem to be working in her favour.
Reality shows like Tamasha are about showing your true personality. Trying to imitate someone else or creating a personality specifically for the audience can only take you so far.
Some Contestants Are Actually Worth Watching
Babrik Shah, on the other hand, is genuinely entertaining to watch. He comes across as mature and mindful of what he says, while still knowing how to have fun. He is definitely one of the contestants I’m rooting for.
Saqib Sumeer, however, might be a little too nice for a show like Tamasha.
Yasir Alam and Zayb Khan both have potential and seem like smart players who could go far in the game.
Sahrish and Rabia, meanwhile, are both carrying themselves very elegantly. Their overall presence, confidence and dressing sense are definitely a 10/10.
So far, it has been quite hard for me to keep up with this season, but let’s see where it takes us.
