Savera Nadeem explained that despite playing complex roles, she hasn’t received any hate for her negative characters. She pointed out that even for her worst character in Jaan-e-Jahan, who had a dark and troubling storyline, she mostly received appreciation. She humorously added that perhaps people refuse to believe she can be bad, but she’s curious to see what future roles might bring in terms of audience reaction.
When Masooma’s character came to me, I accepted it instantly. There was no back and forth. It was like, yes, the deal is done, it’s locked.
Hareem Farooq
Hareem Farooq shared her own experience with playing Masooma in Bismil. For her, the role came at a time when she was feeling boxed into “good girl” roles that didn’t excite her as an artist. She reflected on how society, and the industry, often typecast actors into certain molds, and Masooma’s character offered her the freedom to break out of that. Hareem embraced the challenge of playing a more complex, grey character, feeling it was God-sent, with a great cast, director, and script.
