The Cast Of Bismil Weighs In On Mussa’s Gun Scene & Character Dynamics

There are mixed reactions on this. But for that, we have to see the character’s journey.

Saad Qureshi

The cast of Bismil recently opened up about the much-talked-about moment when Mussa pulls out a gun, which has sparked mixed reactions from viewers. Some fans are asking, “Why did Mussa do it?” But, as the cast explained, his journey is key to understanding his actions. Mussa’s upbringing and sensitive nature have been evident from the start. He’s someone who avoids conflict and gets anxious when witnessing fights, especially between his parents. This sensitivity drives him to fix situations, which explains why his reaction was so intense—he’s been saying all along that he wouldn’t let anything come between his family.

On a lighter note, the cast also highlighted the comedic elements of the show, particularly Hareem’s character. While her role has some intense moments, Hareem brought a playful, humorous touch to the early scenes. The cast enjoyed how her cheeky attitude added a layer of humor to the character, making her both fun and engaging.

Savera Nadeem, Hareem Farooq & Saad Qureshi Reflects On Playing Negative Characters

During a recent conversation, the cast of Bismil shared their thoughts on playing negative or grey characters and how it impacts them.

It doesn’t have any impact.

Savera Nadeem

Savera Nadeem explained that despite playing complex roles, she hasn’t received any hate for her negative characters. She pointed out that even for her worst character in Jaan-e-Jahan, who had a dark and troubling storyline, she mostly received appreciation. She humorously added that perhaps people refuse to believe she can be bad, but she’s curious to see what future roles might bring in terms of audience reaction.

When Masooma’s character came to me, I accepted it instantly. There was no back and forth. It was like, yes, the deal is done, it’s locked.

Hareem Farooq

Hareem Farooq shared her own experience with playing Masooma in Bismil. For her, the role came at a time when she was feeling boxed into “good girl” roles that didn’t excite her as an artist. She reflected on how society, and the industry, often typecast actors into certain molds, and Masooma’s character offered her the freedom to break out of that. Hareem embraced the challenge of playing a more complex, grey character, feeling it was God-sent, with a great cast, director, and script. She felt it was important for her personal growth to explore roles outside the innocent, likable characters that audiences expected from her.

You know sometimes you cross that toxicity in your head, so you are not the person you are anymore. You are in touch with your dark side.

Saad Qureshi

Saad Qureshi added an interesting perspective on the emotional toll of playing grey characters. He mentioned that during intense scenes, he often feels completely immersed in the character, sometimes to the point where he loses track of himself. Saad shared an anecdote about a particular scene as Mussa, where after filming, he realized he had disconnected from reality for a few moments. He said that stepping into these darker, more toxic characters can be overwhelming, as it forces him to connect with his own negative emotions.

The Cast Of Bismil Talks About Audience Reactions

The cast of Bismil reflected on how the audience has responded to their performances and the intricacies of their characters. From the very first episode, the response was overwhelmingly positive, which shocked the cast. Although they were concerned that the story might be too experimental, viewers quickly connected with the relatable elements of each character, praising the show for depicting realistic family dynamics.

I knew I will be getting a lot of hate, but I didn’t know I will be getting a lot of appreciation for it as well.

Hareem Farooq

Hareem Farooq discussed her portrayal of Masooma, noting how the grey and negative aspects of her character still elicited empathy from the audience. She explained how even though Masooma was manipulative and confident, certain moments, like freshening her lipstick before a confrontation, were added to emphasize her meticulousness. Hareem believed that for a character like Masooma, makeup and appearances were crucial, and her confidence often came across as overconfidence, making her both intriguing and a bit humorous at times.

Saad Qureshi, who plays Mussa, talked about how viewers reacted to his character’s aggressive actions, like pulling out a gun. He noted that the audience’s reactions were mixed, with some questioning his decisions, while others understood Mussa’s sensitivity and desire to fix things due to his tumultuous upbringing. The cast also acknowledged the strong performances of the supporting characters, noting how everyone, from family members to minor roles, played an essential part in bringing the story to life.
