Mein hoon sey Mein tha ka safar…

One word that comes to mind for the first episode is “Surprise”. From the start the drama grabbed your attention with twists that we as audiences were not expecting, like Mubashira being married… and the episode ends up with a shock for not just Mubashira but us as well.
Who Is Mubashira?
Mubashira, played by Ayeza Khan is an arrogant, self-obsessed woman married to a very kind, heritage man who shows limitless patience and care towards her. But nothing can reduce the arrogance, dominance, and lack of respect in her tone while talking to him. Her constant taunt that this is only me who is putting up with you, any other girl would have left you by now seems to eventually take a toll on their relationship.
A Second Surprise
The second surprise comes when we find out Zaid played by Wahaj Ali is in love with Ayrah played by Azekah Daniel, who belongs to a different class than Zaid and is looking for a job.
Wahaj Explains The Difference Between Ego & Self Respect
Mein gives you a hint about the storyline with a voice-over by Wahaj Ali explaining the difference between ego and self-respect. That followed by Mubashira’s scenes puts things into perspective.
A Brother Who Stands By His Sister
It was refreshing to see a loving brother who completely stands by his sister Ayrah. It was funny how Ayrah made sure the people who came for her rishta get disappointed and refuse to consider her as a possible bride.
Mein Interweaves Multiple Themes & Messages
Though only the first episode, the drama had multiple themes and messages interweaved in the story. From lack of respect between husband and wife, completely cutting off your mother-in-law, body shaming, the choice to do and live how you want to live, the pressure of looking perfect and advertising your perfect life, maybe slavery covered under the disguise of friendship.
Performances That Caught Us By Surprise
Great performances by the entire cast. The drama had a good pace, not losing you as an audience, and kept bringing about twists that caught you by surprise.
The Ending = A Shocker
The surprise at the end was a shocker. Did it shock you? There were no hints Mubashira’s husband had given thus the ending was totally surprising. Will this break Mubahsira’s “Mein” or make it even stronger?
