Lux Style Awards is once again in the news. Feroze Khan who was criticized for allegedly abusing his ex-wife Aliza Sultan was nominated under the category of the Best TV Actor – Viewers’ Choice category for his drama Khuda Aur Mohabbat.

This became a cause for public outrage because many felt this is against what the brand stands for and is an injustice to the victims of domestic abuse.
The public came out on Twitter to express their disappointment over this situation.
Masses Are Not Happy With Feroze Khan’s Nomination
“Lux Style Awards, a platform that literally has the name of a product marketed to women, is celebrating harassers and domestic abusers. Will anyone have the courage like Eman Suleman to withdraw their nomination in solidarity this year?”
“Globally@Unilever is challenging domestic violence through their “campaigns.” In Pakistan however, they are silencing victims of domestic violence by honoring perpetrators in award shows.”
“#Lux the luxury and beauty brand which they claim is for women somehow is always the first to associate itself with men who are abusers and harassers.”
“The fact that #LuxStyleAwards has nominated an alleged abuser goes to show how systemically the pain of Desi women is ignored. Domestic Violence is considered so commonplace, it is nothing more than a slight inconvenience. Grateful to the celebs and ppl who are speaking out.”
“LUX the Pakistani soap brand that targets the female customers primarily has just nominated the wife beater #FerozeKhan for lux style awards. absolutely disgusting”
“Pakistan’s showbiz industry is proudly deaf to the misogyny in its ranks. Disgusting to see wife beaters, alleged harassers and men who have been called out so many times for the harm they’ve caused to women.”
Celebrities have also condemned Feroze Khan’s nomination. Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy announced that she will return her Lifetime Achievement Award given to her By LUX to register her protest against Feroze Khan’s nomination. Click here to find out how LSA responded to the backlash.
