When the going gets tough, the tough get going, and there are some tough dramas out there that are hitting the high notes, making sure our eye does not linger, not even for a second, lest we miss out on a chance dialogue, yeah?
No, I’m not talking about jusy Gentleman, it’s Zard Patton Ka Bunn and Kabhi Main, Kabhi Tum – the dramas talking tough this week and we have to say wow, what an episode!

Zard Patton Ka Bunn: Dr. Nofil Gives Up, But Meenu’s Barter System Is Going Strong!

Meenu is not a small time player, and never one to be underestimated. She plays the game like a pro, dismissing the college politics and focusing instead on her exams. People like Meenu might come across as selfish, but actually Meenu is the perfect example of tending to those who matter to her – Roshan and Muqaddas, and now, Dr. Nofil is on her radar too. Since she wanted him to stay, she also ensured he got phone signals and a ladder to climb a tree. Some tutoring in exchange is really not a bad deal Dr. Nofil, take it in the spirit of Meenu’s village barter system, works, no?
Malik Nadir’s bike torching act is a dark reminder that he’s not just a comic element in town, but means business. Afzal Khan has realized he’s not the doctor in town either and Dr. Nofil losing heart at this (dark) comedy of errors is perhaps, to be expected?
But will Meenu manage to get him back? If anyone can do it, Meenu can!
Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum: Sharjeena & Mustafa Are Giving Goals

She’s a high achiever, confident, self respecting young girl, hard on luck these days, but too brave to be beaten. He’s a sensitive, uncomplicated, I’d do anything for friends kinda guy, a little lost on his family, but high on life. Can these two make a pair? Was Sharjeena too quick to propose? That’s the story folks, and Fahad Mustafa x Hania Aamir onscreen is turning out to be quite the drama couple we’re already rooting for.
On the other end, Adeel is turning out to be quite the disappointment. Interesting to note that he’s ticking all the boxes; tending to his family’s financial needs, albeit emotionally detached. Our question: does our society do that to elder (and younger) sons? Expecting them to be the breadwinners, taking on financial responsibility, and letting the younger ones just “be” … living in their moment… “I’m just cruising along guys” say all the Mustafas of the world. Just throwing it out there for you folks, tell me what you think?
Gentleman: Overdose Of Dialogues, Yet Munna, Zarnab & Faris Play Winning Strokes

Faris asking Zarnab if she’ll move to Noshki with him, hit where it hurt, Zarnab celebrating her new car hit even harder, and when she finds out it was Rehmati behind that move, Ouch! That’s going to be a killer!
Faris disappoints where Zarnab and Munna win. From making a U-Turn for Mifrah to keeping her visit from Zarnab, he just got bowled out on a duck.
However, Munna saving Zarnab from Muazzam’s ghunda tactics raised a question; why would Zarnab thank the guy [Munna] who is also engaging in the same ghunda actions, but thid time, to protect her. Lesson for Zarnab, life is not always black & white, appreciate the greys in Munna’s world!
However the on-flux of dialogues KRQ style is a bit much in 2024. “She won’t lose and I won’t let her win”, is a tad obsolete don’t you think? Plus, where’s the action in Gentleman folks? The teasers had teased sufficiently, let’s get on with the story now?
Noor Jahan: Time For a Noor Bano vs Noor Jahan Face-Off?
Noor Bano’s been played and the truth is hitting her in the gut! But we’re already waiting for her to strike back. If any daughter in law will be a tough challenge for Noor Jahan, it’s this one because: 1. Murad, her hero son is madly in love with her 2. Noor Bano is no Sumbul or Safina, she can walk away, eventually? 3. It’s strike 3 and you’re out, NB is the 3rd DIL and she’s going to collude with the other two?
While Safina nurses her emotional wounds, it’s interesting how NJ is playing her, giving Sumbul unexpected importance and attention, almost as if her psychopathic tendencies need to be practiced once more lest they rust. Safeer on the other hand is turning out to be the disappointment that happened too soon. Maham’s honeymoon has ended and I have new respect for the girl for trying to make it work.
Jafaa: Deebu and Moiz’s Pain Is Real, Zara & Hassan’s Makeup Moments

Oh dear, Deebu disappears from the shopping scene and the in-laws have no clue what happened, but Dr. Numair might become a bit suspicious, sooner or later. Moiz purchasing sleeping pills was a good reminder about men’s mental health. The question is, are both sets of parents driving their children to despair? Yes they are! No doubt about that!
What we loved was Deebu telling Moiz that I won’t allow him [Dr. Numair] to “touch” me. The conversation probes deeper sensitivities here as we realize the mental torment a young girl forced into marriage undergoes. Oh well, Dr. Numair you might think you’ve appeased your mom but the bigger challenge will be Deebu now.
Hassan making it up to Zara, feeding her pulao and kebab with love was a sweet moment in the episode. Their conversations mirror the stilted communication between many couples who slip into arranged marriage, to find they’re living with a stranger. Though Zara’s positivity truly shines through.
Jafaa is keeping us invested, although the story is certainly a bit contrived, without proper validation as to why a doting father would marry off his daughter forcibly, and why a young man like Numair would give in to his mom so easily!
Radd: Emaan Makes A Clear Choice & We’re Here For It!
Emaan, bewildered by Zain’s contact sports, (so were we btw), came back stronger as she held on to husband Salaar’s hand and navigated her way out of Zain’s line of fire. Emaan is one character who has stood true to herself and that’s why she has our respect.
Sawera on the other hand, is swinging between self empowerment and helplessness. Even if she hadn’t informed the school principal about court proceedings (which she should have), she should be clever enough to know her daughter’s father would not harm his daughter. But his emotional blackmailing tactics worked on Sawera and yes, she will be back to square one, very soon!
What is Zaamin up to? Salaar better watch out.
Jaan Nisar: Dua and Nosherwan Share Chemistry & Faraz Is Just Making Us So Ho-Hum…?

Oh Jaan Nisar, while you’re hard at work on Nosherwan’s story, Fiza seems to have taken a backfoot. Her torture continues and Faraz is just making us oh so bored, … ho hum. Kashmala isn’t far behind by the way. The characters needed layers, the story needed a grip, other than Nosherwan taking over Dua’s frame and suggesting they skip the dinner for…??? Your guess is as good as ours, the episode(s) had not much to report.
Of course Farah as the trusted vamp sharpened her claws, or shall we say, brightened her lipstick? That one was the oldest trick in the book but it forced a smile, albeit at the creators, not with them. Not one but two girls falling for Nosherwan while he goes after the third one, busy man our hero!
And that’s it folks, while we await more episodes and more stories. Tell us which one made you smile and which one made you reach for forward button? A solid 10 or a crawling 4, rate the dramas for us will you?
Our week in dramas has started once more, so start watching while we pen our thoughts. Ciao and see you next week!
