Huda Kattan, the founder of Huda Beauty, is the ultimate influencer, and let us tell you why.

Huda Beauty, Huda Kattan, Palestine
Huda Kattan, Founder Huda Beauty Is A Strong Advocate For The Palestinian Cause

Beyond revolutionizing the beauty industry with her innovative products and relatable personality, Huda has strongly advocated for the Palestinian cause. She uses her platform to share beauty tips and raise awareness about important social and political issues, setting a powerful example of how people with influence can drive meaningful change.

In response to the escalating crisis in Gaza, Huda Beauty has announced a temporary halt to their social media activities. The company stated that continuing to post about their upcoming Blush Filter launch feels unimaginable and irrelevant amidst the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Despite the scheduled launch proceeding with retailers on June 1st and globally on June 7th, Huda Beauty emphasized their commitment to raising awareness about the horrors and injustices in Gaza.

“Over the past few days, the situation in Gaza has escalated, further than we ever thought possible. Continuing to post about our upcoming Blush Filter launch feels unimaginable and irrelevant in times like these as a genocide unfolds in front of our eyes. It feels wrong to draw your attention to anything besides the horror and injustices taking place in Palestine. We have, therefore, decided to stop posting for the time being. You will see our latest Blush Filter launch go forward with retailers on June 1st & globally on June 7th, as this has been scheduled.

As always, I will continue using my platform to be a voice for the unheard & raise awareness for the genocide occurring in Gaza. I know it’s so easy to feel helpless in times like these but remember, our collective voices hold unimaginable power. If we come together, Palestine WILL be free. We will continue posting shortly, but for now, ALL EYES SHOULD BE ON RAFAH”

This announcement comes in the wake of a devastating attack on Rafah on May 19th, where Israeli bombings killed at least 45 people in al-Mawasi, a designated safe zone in western Rafah. Another attack on Tuesday in a displacement camp west of Rafah resulted in 21 deaths, including 12 women, with airstrikes continuing on Wednesday morning. Since October 7, the Ministry of Health in Gaza reports that Israel’s actions have led to the deaths of at least 36,171 people in Gaza.

However, this is not the first time Huda Kattan has shown us what it means to use your influence for the right cause.

Huda Kattan Was Ready To Risk Her Entire Business

The beauty mogul, Huda Kattan, emphasized in a video posted on December 11 that she will “not be intimidated” and has done “nothing wrong” by speaking out against Israel’s invasion of the Gaza Strip. She expressed her willingness to risk her business for the sake of truth and justice, criticizing attempts to redefine terms related to ethnic cleansing and genocide.

Despite the high stakes, with her cosmetics business valued at $1.2 billion and a massive following of 54 million on Instagram, Kattan remains steadfast in sharing her opinions online.

Donations For The Right Cause!

In November, Huda Kattan announced that her company, Huda Beauty, will donate $1 million to relief efforts in Gaza.

She also urged people to continue making donations and to keep posting and talking about Palestine on their platforms.

One notable incident involved an Israeli fan of Huda Beauty who commented on Kattan’s page, criticizing her support for Palestine and threatening that no Israelis would buy her products anymore. Kattan responded straightforwardly and clearly: “I don’t want blood money.”

In today’s digital age, the term “influencer” has come to represent those with the power to shape opinions, trends, and behaviors through their substantial online followings. However, the true essence of being an influencer goes beyond promoting products or lifestyles—it’s about using one’s platform to advocate for meaningful change and to give a voice to the voiceless. Huda Kattan, the beauty mogul behind Huda Beauty, exemplifies this responsibility.

Kattan’s actions are a lesson for all influencers. With great power comes great responsibility. Influencers can reach millions, and with that reach comes the potential to effect real change. Yet, too many with significant platforms remain silent on critical issues, fearing backlash or losing sponsorships. This silence can be complicit, allowing injustices to go unchallenged.

Using one’s platform to speak out against injustices, educate, and mobilize support is the real meaning of being an influencer. It’s not just about influencing consumer behavior but society’s social and moral compass. Huda Kattan’s example is a clarion call for other influencers to recognize their power and use it for the greater good.

As we look at the landscape of social media and the individuals who shape it, we should hold them to a higher standard. They should be more than just trendsetters; they should be changemakers. And if more influencers follow in Huda Kattan’s footsteps, we might see a world where social media platforms become powerful tools for justice and positive change.
