She’s sober, organized and knows how to park her car within the lines. He’s carefree, quotes Urdu poetry for every moment in life, big or small, and already smitten by her. Will these two get off to a rocky start (check that), or find love together? Winter Love is off to a start that’s pulling in the rom-com drama audience because, after all, what’s life without a healthy dose of love and comedy?

Enemies to lovers, or another contract marriage? Which one will it be for Winter Love? The first two episodes were light-hearted, fun to watch, interesting, and built curiosity about what happens next.
The Characters
Hayat, played by Khushhal Khan, helps out Mushk (Mawra Hocane) on a stormy, dark night, only to discover their workplaces are located next to each other in the same building. His love for Urdu poetry along with his father Gulzar’s poetic yet playful disposition, make this father-son pair an entertaining watch.
Mushk, played by Mawra Hocane, has lost her parents recently in a car crash. While tragedy still looms overhead in the form of recurrent nightmares for Mushk, she misses her parents terribly and can’t bear to part with their family home, the script delivers some light moments to balance the mood. But she has possibly moved in with her sister and brother-in-law for now. Mushk is a serious soul, a perfectionist who needs to control everything in life. Life is difficult for her as she misses her parents; moreover, her uncle is threatening to sell the house where her parents lived in order to claim his share.
Hayat’s parents Gulzar and Gulnar are an interesting combination. His mom Gulnar is still insecure about his father’s past love interest dating back to his youth. She is seeking the help of a “pir baba” to keep his devotion to her and win over his love. She is also very superstitious, and now she has been told her that she must get her son married as soon as possible.
Zark and Meerab are the younger couple in the drama. Zark is Hayat’s brother, and Meerab is Mushk’s cousin. They are shown to be part of an office presentation, but we are not sure if they are working there as full-time employees or just interning—as they both seem too young to be full-time employees.
Breathtaking Location
The cinematography and attention to detail are refreshing. The locations are new and aesthetically stunning. There is a scene shot in the rain where the two leads meet up, and several other scenes where the effort invested in production and carefully curated shots is clearly evident. Hayat’s home is set in fairytale like surroundings. The cinematic angles show off the beauty of the surrounding landscape and make one want to keep watching.
The Story
The drama is light-hearted so far and maintains this tone despite some very serious scenes. Khushhal Khan’s character, Hayat, is super fun to watch. He is a funny, happy-go-lucky guy who reads books and wants to achieve his dream of going abroad. He is also smitten by Mushk after an encounter on a dark and stormy night – love is in the air, at least from Hayat’s side. Mushk has yet to fall for him though, but we assume it’s only a matter of time.
Mushk is looking for a way to earn enough money to save her parents’ house from being sold, and Hayat is planning to leave Pakistan for greener pastures. Meanwhile, their families have only one thing on their mind — shaadi. Yes, the classic Pakistani drama trope.
The drama evokes Haseena Moin’s “Tanhaiyaan” nostalgia at some points: a rainy night, an accident, two sisters, one of whom has a very serious disposition and wants to hold on to their parents’ home.
Mushk has joined her mother’s matchmaking business, while Hayat is an event planner. We wonder if this is how they will get to know each other. The second episode offers many light-hearted scenes, especially between Hayat and Mushk, which are super cute and make you smile.
