The Missing Common Sense in Zanjeerain. Common Sense Is Really Not That Common After All?
Did you feel it too? Are we playing Cluedo but with too many lifelines? Here’s whatt went down on Zanjeerain latest episode and we feel the Sar Buland turned Sherlock Holmes twist could be a bit sharper, correction, a LOT sharper. Here’s why!

Cluedo Without the Detective Skills
Sher Dil was being poisoned—that was a confirmed fact. He was murdered, and whoever planned it knew he was going to cross that bridge on that specific day and that particular time of day.
Sher Bano went missing from her very own house – a well-protected haveli – while every family member and security guard was present. Now Sarbuland has been attacked, not once, but earlier too, at the graveyard earlier, with the arrow. and only someone close to the family could have known his route this time.
It is clear that someone inside the haveli is involved, and someone close to them is planning all the attacks. Someone they trust. Someone who is aware of their daily activities and plans.
Yet sadly, both Sarbuland and Rabeeya—and, frankly, the creators of the drama—seem to ignore this obvious fact. No one is actively investigating the disappearance of Sher Bano, and no one is even thinking about who could
Even last night, it took Sarbuland far too long to finally sit down and reflect on the events of the past few months.
The Missing Piece in the Puzzle
Rabeeya took all the trouble and risked her life to break into Shirin’s room and access her phone. All that was needed, was for her to take one screen shot of the calls from her phone, or at least, commit to memory, the last 3 or 4 digits of the two numbers Shirin is in contact with to narrow down the suspects and to uncover the identity of the contacts on Shirin’s call list. But surprisingly, Rabeeya who normally thinks on her feet, is so sharp that she sensed poison in Sar Buland’s juice, seemed to have zoned out when she needed to be most present.
Or is it because the creators need to stretch the episode count to a few more episodes? Why compromise the characters and the storyline that has so much going for it?
Zanjeerain is a script that is being screened to an audience who are avid watchers of mystery thrillers on OTT platforms. Therefore it is unfair to the same audience that in order to watch their favourite actors onscreen, they have to settle for a script that could have delivered so much more. And Zanjeerain has the potential to give us that much more, but it seems to be falling short – sharper thinking main characters for one, is a missing link.
