Kashf foundation, HUM TV and Mustafa Afridi’s Zard Patton Ka Bunn not only highlights strong female characters, but also brings out an army of positive male characters in a refreshing manner, (from Meenu’s father, Afzal Chacha to Nofil’s father), whom we desperately need around us in society.
Afzal Chacha’s Unbeatable Vibes
Only if every girl would have an Afzal Chacha in her life, who not only protects her and guides her but also gives her due respect when she falls in love, rather than shaming her emotions. Girls need strong and mature characters in their lives, to facilitate them and support their journey, till our society evolves enough to accept an empowered girl like Meenu.
Afzal and Nofil’s conversation was so wholesome. How Afzal helped Nofil figure out that he needed to own up to his love with courage and not be afraid. Till now, everyone has been warning Nofil and Meenu to stay away from each other, to hide their love, otherwise they will be ruined. But no one is guiding them, telling them how to manage the situation. If it was so easy to control someone in love we wouldn’t have so many love stories around us.
To Condemn A Girl Falling In Love?
Meenu makes you question… is falling in love a crime? Was Sartaj chachi right, she shouldn’t have expressed her feelings to Nofil or let the villagers notice what was in her heart. Will we always consider falling in love as a measure of a girl’s character, especially if she chooses to express it. We are NOT talking about flirting with every other guy she comes across. We are specifically talking about a girl genuinely falling in love and wanting to marry that person, just like Meenu is doing right now. It is important to make this distinction.
Dr. Nofil’s Love Language
And as if Afzal Chacha, Meenu’s father were not enough to impress us, Mustafa Afridi completely wins us by giving us Dr. Nofil, a man who sheds tears in love as he expresses his feelings to his father. We feel like saying “ab rulao gay kiya?”… This is the era of soft male heroes but what we loved in this scene about Nofil was how he became teary-eyed as he shared his pain of being in love, of not being able to tell Meenu, to not being able to own it, regretting what he said… that sweet pain of love. The pain mirrored in the emptiness of Meenu’s eyes made him cry.
Lot’s More Happened In Zard Patton Ka Bunn!
Meenu’s father continues to win hearts. The way he talks to Meenu, not believing her. Most importantly, him being able to figure out that she is not okay, was so beautiful. Mairajudeen is fooling his mother, but his brothers should be able to see through him and know he is doing drugs. Roshan, unfortunately, has now become a lost opportunity and losing his charm for us at supersonic speed as there is no development in his character. Meenu threatening the girls and refusing to take their bullying was also another uplifting scene and probably serves as guidance to all girls to not take any negativity about their character lightly.
Has Malik managed to warn Afzal? Was he really concerned about Afzal and Nasreen’ s reputation that he didn’t confront him publicly or was this his scheme to threaten and pressurize Afzal in private first, so the matter gets resolved without getting out of hand?
