Aap kay baal buhat achhay hain, chhoo sakti hoon? Meenu just won a thousand hearts in that very moment. From serving up a playlist of emotions, each one giving us a different tune, this one shone out as the purest, most soulful song. Meenu does not hold back when she feels from the heart, whether it is rage, or love she’s expressing. And that’s why, her simple request to Dr. Nofil, her untamed urge to touch his hair and the beauty with which Sajal Aly delivered this scene, and Hamza Sohail joined in with his effortless smile, was just love in the final moments of the episode.
The Right To Love
It is moments like these that hit at a deeper level for audiences; when we speak of a young girl’s right to dwell in her emotions, that she doesn’t always have to exhibit ‘appropriate’ behavior, that expressing her love can be a moment where she will not be judged and expressing it by touching her beloved’s hair is also something that should not be frowned upon. And lastly, that our heroines should not have to always shoulder the burden of being perfect, because then, how will we see that a young girl who loves whole-heartedly, can also be slightly reckless in love at times, and walks a rocky road in a society that is ready to point fingers if she trips, (even when she doesn’t). Speaking of tripping and recklessness, let’s discuss Meenu scaling walls to see Dr. Nofil in the middle of the night.
Reckless In Love?
Oh, dear Meenu, we can see many viewers shaking their heads. Did you have to do that? What will people think of you jumping over walls just to get a glimpse or more of Dr. Nofil? You’re playing with fire and… but of course, it is very inappropriate. Right? We can see the aunties in us, shaking their heads in disapproval.
But Zard Patton Ka Bunn wants us to set aside our notions of correct and incorrect behavior and merely feel for a young girl who must meet the person she loves, well, because he’s in trouble. She disregards the risks, the dangers of being caught out and throws caution to the winds – reckless much? And all that just for a moment to meet up? If you relate, nod your head, you’ve lived. If you don’t, smile for her at least, because, after all, Meenu just needed a moment to be with the man she’s just realized means the world to her, was it really so wrong of her?
And… this is important, if you’re among those who criticize her, try and understand why she had to do it late at night? Why not in broad daylight? Is it because we wouldn’t let her live with that either? So, before you point fingers at her, ask yourselves this: What drives a young girl to take the secretive route to meet her beloved? That is the question we need to answer.
Heroines Like Meenu
Having said that, it is so heartening to see a heroine like Meenu who feels with all her heart, and who expresses her desire to be with Dr. Nofil without hesitation, filmy pretense or unnecessary airs. Meenu is as honest as they come and so is her love, in all its purity.
Malik Nadir’s Grand Plans
But what is Malik Nadir up to? Is he planning to trap Dr. Nofil in a grand plan? He seems to have given up the idea of the harassment case, but will he now use Meenu and Nofil’s relationship to his advantage?
A Hero Like Nofil
Nasreen has managed to file the FIR, and it was such a moving scene as both Nasreen and then later Dr. Nofil shed tears over the news. Zard Patton Ka Bunn once again reminds us how it’s okay for men to cry – Dr. Nofil makes us feel for him and at the same time, that does not take away from his ‘hero’ persona. In fact, he’s more of a hero now than ever before! Drama makers, please take note, the era of the toxic hero is out and the hero who feels deeply, doesn’t shy away from expressing his emotions, and even cries when he’s in pain, just made it to our A list!
On a final note, Afzal Chacha is a hero. His conversation with Nasreen lit up the screen and made us believe in the goodness of souls like him who restore our faith in humanity!
