Actor Behroze Sabzwari has just thrown himself in the not so limelight in a recent podcast hosted by FHM Pakistan. The video clip circulating hints at Sabzwari attempting to defend the ex Prime Minister Imran Khan on public allegations regarding his character. It remains to be seen if the unasked for defense was really needed. We think not.

A recent podcast with actor Behroze Sabzwari commenting on the allegations that “Khan Sahab does not drink (alcohol) a lot, only one glass,” seems to be doing the rounds. Actor Hina Bayat instantly called it out as a publicity stunt but more importantly, we can’t seem to fathom why Behroze Sabzwari had to go into an allegedly personal detail about a public figure, and that too, under the guise of defending him.
The conversation seems to be a bit puzzling too, because Behroze Sabzwari mentioning that he had shared a drink with Khan many times (another detail we could do without), and that Khan “never drinks more than one glass (of alcohol), seemed more of a deep-seated desire to show that he (Behroze) enjoyed a special relationship status with Imran Khan, but unfortunately, came off as a need to lap up some low cost publicity by establishing that he’s always been thick with Khan Sahab. And we’re not even judging the need to “overshare” here.
Netizens have been calling out the actor on his strange manner of defending a public figure by disclosing a personal event that happened or did not happen (we really couldn’t care less actually). Determining a person’s addiction to alcohol or drugs, or their ability to exercise will power in the presence of the same, is not where the conversation needed to go.
Need we remind Mr. Sabzwari that he is living and speaking publicly in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and if did so feel a dire need to defend a public figure, perhaps he needs to be schooled on how to do it right, or, correction, how NOT to do it!
Sometimes, silence is Golden. This time, it’s a bright, shimmering, effervescent kind of Gold. I choose to reserve my opinion might have served goals better than loose talk on a subject.
