Chand Nagar, Bol Entertainment’s first Ramzan drama has been brought to life by the collaborative efforts of BJ Productions – Babar Javed, under the direction of Yasra Rizvi, and with the creative vision of writer Zeeshan Junaid. The drama is bringing together, actors Javed Sheikh, Atiqa Odho, Omair Rana, Aijaz Aslam, and Hajra Yamin leading the ensemble. Their seasoned performances were complemented by the talents of Maha Hasan, Fariya Hassan, Arez Ahmed, Raza Samo, Hasan Khan, Jenaan Hussain, Saad Zameer Fareedi, Ali Syed, Ayaz Ahmed, Zeeshan Naveed, M. Khizar Ansari, M. Usman Amir, Nimra Ali, and M. Hamid.

If you still haven’t caught up with this year’s Ramzan drama gem, let us nudge you to do so with reason! It is seriously understated.
Bol has truly broken the code by presenting a non-family yet family Ramzan drama, being inclusive with audiences who do not have family to celebrate Eid with, and also focusing on Ramzan in a Ramzan drama for the first time. The characters are out of the box, eccentric yet strike comic notes. Despite the humor, which has been crafted so ingeniously, the messages are also there. It’s been so long since we’ve seen humor that is, in its true essence, fresh.
Any Chance Khanam’s Chand Nagar Is Haunted?
Chand Nagar is no longer haunted by the silence and loneliness of her empty nest, Khanam once felt. Instead, it is now bustling with the hustle and bustle, chaos, petty fights, and liveliness of quirky young souls. Though we didn’t say it’s not haunted at all, it is indeed haunted…by Khanam’s late husband, whom she fondly (or perhaps not so fondly as of now) calls Sahib. He can’t fathom his house being filled with all these dear delinquents Mrs. Khanam has gathered in their home.
This hilarious drama has just taken a turn and transformed into a horror comedy of sorts! Along with that, there is romance, comedy, and some extremely heart-melting moments. Each character’s journey is moving, interesting, and thoughtfully charted out in its own way, with each sharing a unique and warming bond with Khanam.
The Character’s Fascinating Journeys!
From Shiza Mahmood Mirchiwala, once oddly amusing yet robotic in her approach to life, is now undergoing a humanizing transformation and becoming more attuned to her feelings, unafraid to embrace love, care, and forge close bonds. When she says, ‘itnay say waqt mai jo itna kuch kardia hia, itna koi saalou nae karta,’ our hearts truly melted at the depth of the bonds Khanam shares with each one of them. When the drama began, we wouldn’t have thought Shiza, the monitor, the most odd one, would be the one uniting them, keeping them in check, and presenting solutions and plans to keep them all together.
Taimoor’s antics are in a league of their own, ensuring constant entertainment for the audience. Though his pursuit to become the waaris of Chand Nagar remains alive and undeterred. Many regard this as Arez’s finest performance to date.
Things aren’t as romantic and exciting for Kainat and Tasawur as one might expect. Jealousy brews between the two as they navigate their concealed relationship among many others, but their secret might soon be exposed.
Rohail has harbored feelings for Tani far longer than we anticipated. His patience and understanding toward Taani, coupled with his endearing attempts to win her heart, as well as his gentle reality checks, compel us to urge Taani to open her eyes and recognize what she truly has!
Well, Tani…is still Tani – feisty, impatient, and tough on the outside, yet sensitive and yearning for love on the inside. But here’s some good news: our girl landed a job! Let’s hope she sticks with it too.
Who Knew The Loving, Warm Khanam Can Be This Feisty?
Now, let’s talk about our beloved Khanam. She isn’t just graceful and brimming with love and warmth; she can also be fiercely protective. Yes, her fiery side has emerged as she fiercely guards the bachas at Chand Nagar. Despite her obedient love for her husband over the years, who seems determined to haunt them out of their home, Khanam has vowed not to yield and won’t allow anyone to force the children to leave. Can Khanam keep them all together?
Javed saab has also made his presence known, adding a touch of horror comedy to the mix! We’re thoroughly enjoying every moment of it.
The ghost, also known as Khanam’s late husband, has possessed Bakhtu. While the possessed Bakhtu may be a tad scary due to the swift switches, we are secretly enjoying it at the same time.
A Special Entry, Adding Another Romantic & Fun Twist!
The entry of Shiza’s uncle, Zain Margalain, adds another twist Chand Nagar style. His introduction? What better than his own dialogue – “Doctor hum banay thay, Shayr hum paida huye thay”. He is handsome, poetic, charismatic, and hilarious. We wonder, has his arrival sparked the romantic in Khanam, perhaps allowing her to dream and fall in love again? Although we can’t comment on his efficiency as a psychiatrist, it doesn’t mean we wish for another doctor. This addition adds a fun twist and much-needed interest, ensuring the audience doesn’t get lost in the same old juggling of stale content.
It’s both random and hilarious how he silently observes from the corner in places where chaos ensues. It’s unique and interesting to see how he goes around analyzing everything. His observations are peculiar yet accurate, inviting you to listen and analyze along with him.
He has fallen head over heels for Khanam, as Shiza said, ‘paraye bageechay mai mali banay huye hain!’ But on a serious note, kudos to the writers and makers for addressing the themes of mature love between Mammoo and Khanum, as well as highlighting companionship in old age and the loss of that companionship.
So, do you still intend to miss out on this Ramzan gem?
