The new drama serial Doctor Bahu started a week ago, and here’s what the story has offered so far!

Doctor Bahu is a drama about two individuals from starkly different worlds, whose lives intersect in unexpected ways. Sania (Kubra Khan) is an ambitious young doctor, deeply committed to her medical career. Her father and mother are supportive of her dream, and she has an elder sister who looks up to her. The family’s life takes a turn when Sania’s phuppo (played by Bakhtawar Mazhar), who lives in the USA, returns to Pakistan seeking treatment for ovarian cancer. Sania’s family loves and respects her phuppo and wishes to ensure her comfort and care during this difficult time.
On the other hand, Salman (Shuja Asad) belongs to a wealthy and highly respected medical family. His father owns two major hospitals, his mother owns an aesthetic clinic, his brother is an oncologist, and his sister-in-law Mina is a gynecologist, though she is not allowed to practice because of her father-in-law’s strict control, forcing her to work in an aesthetic clinic instead with her mother-in-law. Despite being the only non-doctor in the family, Salman runs a successful car showroom, causing tension with his father. Salman’s relationship with his family is complicated, except for his mother, who suffers from a serious, hidden illness that only her husband knows about.
Sania and Salman meet in a rather unusual way – when Salman brings an injured dog to a human hospital for treatment, Sania, showing her compassion, treats the animal. This moment sparks a connection between them, though their worlds could not be more different. Sania, fully focused on preparing for her FPSC exams to become an established surgeon, is initially reluctant when her phuppo brings a marriage proposal for her – a proposal that is, in fact, for Salman. Despite her reservations, she agrees to the marriage to honor her father and her family’s wishes.
Salman’s family wants a “doctor bahu” in the household to maintain the family’s honor and prestige, even though their strict traditions prevent women like Mina from fully practicing medicine.
The story reaches this point with Sania and Salman newly married, standing at the threshold of their new life together, bringing together ambition, family expectations, and personal dreams.
