Doctor Bahu: Sania and Salman’s relationship is not perfect — and neither are they. Both are learning and changing. This is so relatable and refreshing to watch.

This relationship dynamic keeps the drama from becoming a typical saas bahu saga — or in this case, a susar-bahu saga. Sania facing her challenges as a daughter-in-law while following her career keeps the narrative grounded and real.

Bakhtawar Mirza as Saeeda phoppo losing her hair due to cancer treatment, was a deeply endearing and almost revolutionary watch— the kind of content that genuinely impacts mindsets.

Sania and Salman, navigating a new marriage while dealing with their individual challenges and yet trying to show up for each other — that is a lot to deal with for any couple. But that is also what real life looks like. Each person carries their own set of struggles, and we cannot undermine someone else’s journey.

Salman is trying, but he fails to fully understand the pressure Sania is facing — the fact that she is a perfectionist, that she wants to achieve things. And moreover, she is also being emotionally bullied by both her mother and her mother-in-law and outright threatened by her father-in-law. She is doing her best. But somewhere in between all this, she forgot about Salman’s big day — and although that is human, it might also be a bit selfish.

Salman on the other hand, instead of supporting her, told her not to take the event she was organising too seriously. He could have been more patient and understanding, seeing that she just found out her interview was set for early next morning.

Neither of them was able to see things from the other’s perspective, and that is exactly why we love this drama. Both are making mistakes, but both are learning.

Is this not what real life looks like – making mistakes while we’re caught up with our own struggles? It takes real selflessness to set that aside and truly show up for your partner. That’s exactly what Sania and Salman will learn.

Will Faryal cause more trouble — or will the drama show what true loyalty really means? A direct contrast between Faizan and Salman. And it is worth appreciating that Salman was honest and told Sania everything.

Saeeda phoppo’s cancer journey is so beautifully depicted. The best part is that it never feels forced or preachy — yet it makes you deeply aware of the real feelings and challenges of a cancer patient. Appreciation for writer Sanam Mehdi and the entire team for this sensitive narrative. Our dramas can help normalise such personal battles when they choose to bring such stories onscreen. The next time we see a cancer patient who has lost her hair due to treatment, we will not make her feel unnecessarily conscious — because we would have already been made aware through stories such as Saeeda phoppo’s.

Dr. Shahnawaz has found a new way to control Sania: Dr. Saad’s proposal. But how long can someone endure emotional bullying before they break? Staying silent isn’t in Sania’s nature. She will push back soon.

As the drama progresses, the story turns darker. Financial embezzlement seems likely, and Dr. Shahnawaz’s chilling insistence that Sania be punished is deeply unsettling. It is hard not to fear what he might do.

The drama shows how women can be controlled through small, everyday demands – even a cup of tea or coffee. Dr. Shahnawaz repeatedly sidesteps Sania’s objections by sending her to make coffee. It feels disturbingly real.

It also quietly reminds us — if Sania had her parents’ support, especially her mother’s, she would not have had to compromise so much.

Presently, Sania is stuck. Even if she leaves to live separately with Salman, this could worsen things further, because for Dr. Shahnawaz this is now a question of ego. To control her. To bend her. And the threat of cancelling her medical licence is very real.

Faizan might really be in love with Dr. Amber, but he still lacks the courage to do the right thing: stop cheating on Minna and be upfront about his nikah with Dr. Amber if they go ahead with it. This storyline mirrors real life people who take part in betrayal and justify it, even though they know it to be unethical.

Salman’s character is a quiet reminder that men have feelings too — even when no one notices or expects them to. When he complains to Sania, you realise two things — he genuinely wanted to be happy with her, and he feels deeply overlooked. The moment his father dismisses his achievement on managing to hit the most app subscriptions in Pakistan, he simply leaves. No drama. Just quiet hurt. It is such a beautifully written character — imperfect yet battling on so many fronts.
And the surprise twist — that Salman is considering forgiving Waqas — says a lot about the kind of person he is.
