The first episode of Ek Jhooti Kahani, featuring Zara Noor Abbas and Mohib Mirza, aired this week, and here’s what it’s all about.
Meet Irfan & The Sisterhood Of Sabotage
Mohib Mirza takes the lead as Irfan, the sole (and often suffering) brother to five completely bonkers, boundary-less sisters who’ve made it their mission in life to create chaos. And chaos, dear viewers, is an understatement. Whether it’s sabotaging potential rishtas with outrageous pranks or terrorizing house help into early retirement, these girls are a full-time job.
Poor Irfan just wants to live a normal life and maybe find a life partner, but with this sisterly squad of saboteurs, even that modest goal feels like a pipe dream. Every time a proposal knocks on their door, the sisters swing it right back out with a flurry of over-the-top antics.
The Silent (Not-So-Silent) Hero: Habib Sahab
The ever-loyal Habib Sahab, played with endearing charm by Mohammed Ahmed. He’s the house caretaker, part-time peacemaker, and full-time romantic at heart. While he’s busy trying to put out the fires the sisters keep starting, he’s also secretly nursing a sweet crush on a woman played by Uzma Baig, and even plotting a hush-hush wedding. We smell a side plot brewing that might just steal the spotlight!
Bushra: The Girl With Dreams (& A Little Bit Of Drama)
On the other side of town, we meet Bushra, played by the ever-vibrant Zara Noor Abbas. She’s not your typical drama heroine, she wants to chase dreams, not husbands. Her eyes are set on theatre school, but her old-school father (Behroze Sabzwari) has other ideas: “Get married. Settle down.” Sound familiar?
Frustrated and desperate, Bushra comes up with a plan so crazy, it might just work, except it doesn’t. She fakes getting hit by Irfan’s car to get some quick cash out of him (you have to admire the creativity), but the whole thing goes hilariously sideways. Instead of compensation, she ends up with Irfan’s curiosity, and maybe even his affection.
If you’re tired of heavy sob-fests and endless crying montages, this one’s your antidote.
