Faraz throws us a surprise yet again, the backstories in Faraar are super intriguing and we’re rooting for each one of them.

Oh dear Faraz, you were blaming Batish for his love-struck ways but there seems to be so much more to your backstory – that’s what we call a chhupa Rustam, right? The highlight of the episode was Fasih and Sadia’s graveyard visit, shot beautifully with a poignant message – one expects nothing less from Mustafa Afridi’s writing and Wajahat Hussain and Musadek Malik’s direction though!
It was an interesting twist when Fasih and his subordinate hunt down Faraz’s girlfriend/wife and trace the call to the village. But with yet another twist in the tale, Faraz having to hang up in the toilet as Batish knocks, is exactly why Faraar is keeping it so sharp.
Fasih’s mom dreaming of a Sea View rendezvous in her head as Sadia and Fasih visit the graveyard was an exercise in dark humour or a portrayal of how unexpected emotions can find place in our heart in the most unlikely of places. Fasih and Sadia’s graveyard visit transformed from a simple longing to be with one’s father to a heartfelt reminder of the fact that we all come from the same place and return to our maker. Every life is just as valuable to the people whom it leaves behind – a lesson in humility, empathy and humanity.
Har Qabar mein ek hi gham soya huwa rehta hai
Kisi maan ka beta,
Kisi bhai ki behan,
Kisi aashiq ki Mehbooba,
Tum kisi bhi qabar par fateha parh kay chalay jao…
Noor Ul Hassan delivering these lines written by Mustafa Afridi stirred deep emotions. Mamya Shajaffar as Sadia and the creators paid tribute to the sentiment shared by the writer and the result was a beautifully visualized scene that brought tears to one’s eyes.
With a story laden with suspense, mystery and surprise reveals, Faraar might be tapping into the thrill-seeker in you, but it doesn’t let go of the struggles of the common man. Sadia holding Fasih’s arm as she felt nervous in the darkened, gloomy graveyard at night did not diminish or take away from the scene – it is perhaps because of the way both Ahmed Ali Akbar and Mamya Shajaffar performed their characters, retaining the emotions within.
Faraz and Batish drinking up the fresh farm milk was a smile moment as Faraz tried to resist but was instantly admonished by Chaudhary Wali. Faris Shafi has already managed to rein in audiences by delivering an amusing yet intriguing portrayal of a man who plays it chill but seems to have a lot up his sleeve. And if you thought you’re done with new characters, he drops Waris Shah as the village stronghold – we might not have met him yet, but we already know he’s a force to be reckoned with.
Speaking of new characters. Faraz’s love interest was a twist we didn’t see coming. Maha Hasan as the nurse who is in a relationship with (or married to) Faraz was a curved ball for sure. Not only does it add more to the plot but also added more and interesting angles to Faraz, a character we have grown to love and feel for. Fasih tracing the call but unsure if it’s worth a chase added to the suspense and mystery element which Faraar creators are a pro at acing now.
The story of how Faraz met Maha Hassan’s character was related in a charming, zero cringe mood. Both actors played it in a relaxed, relatable performance while Haroon Shahid belting out Ko Ko Korina and Maha with her subtle expressions and body language made it all so smile worthy. The creators kept it going as they seated the pair not facing each other, yet exchanging numbers in flirtatious tones that set the mood for this love story. And the scene is set for audiences who are eagerly anticipating more from these two in the next episode. Keep it coming Faraar!
Sami Khan was the final new character introduced in the Faraar chase this episode. The hostile nature of the call and the bitterness and rancour within both characters revealed there was so much more to the story. The conversation piqued our curiosity and yet left enough untold for us to wait for episode next with great interest.
Lastly, is Fasih falling in love with Sadia? And, where is Babrik? Saleem and Javed have their eyes on Fasih and the nurse. Everyone’s game plan is going strong, but who will be caught out soon – that’s the thrill in the storytelling.
Faraar packs in a fledgling romance, surprising reveals, throught-provoking dialogue, humour, thrill, suspense and super performances in one episode.
