Father’s Day is just around the corner, making it the perfect time to spotlight the father figures in our Pakistani dramas who have made a significant difference for us. We aren’t used to seeing fatherly roles as supportive as these, so it’s important to celebrate them. Though these characters only exist in fiction, their impact is undeniably real. Here are three desi dads in Pakistani dramas that brought tears to our eyes with their heartfelt portrayal.

Father’s Day Special: 3 Pakistani Drama Dads Who Made Us Teary-Eyed & Redefined Love & Support!

Though we don’t need a special day to celebrate fathers, we cherish this beautiful relationship every minute of every day. However, in the entertainment industry, especially in Pakistani dramas, we rarely see fathers who support their children. Most often, we see forbidding father figures who don’t want their daughters to study or just want them to get married. But some dramas took a different approach. With Father’s Day just near, we celebrate and discuss something we don’t often see on our screens. These are fathers who made their daughters strong, independent, resilient, and unapologetic. These characters deserve recognition and appreciation, and we’re here to do just that.

Read on to see our top three favorite Pakistani drama dads!

Muhammad Ahmed In Kuch Ankahi

Muhammad Ahmed, in his role as Agha Jaan in Kuch Ankahi, epitomized the father every girl would want. He instilled unwavering hope, trust, and confidence in his daughters. The drama bravely addressed societal issues like women’s rights, inheritance, divorce, late marriage, second marriages, societal pressures, and more. Agha Jaan’s character showed limitless support and unwavering confidence for his daughters. He demonstrated remarkable balance in every relationship, whether it was Samiya’s resistance to marrying Saif or her mother’s desire for her to marry. Agha Jaan exemplified the profound influence a father could have, skilfully navigating various relationships.

Here’s why Agha Jaan made it to our list of best drama dads!

He taught his daughter to stand independently in society, which is very rare in Pakistani dramas. His unparalleled trust empowered Taniya to pursue filmmaking. He lit the way, equipping Aliya with the skills needed to overcome obstacles and become a successful real estate agent. Agha Jaan perfectly showed a father’s role in fostering his daughter’s confidence and success.

Shahnawaz Zaidi In 22 Qadam

It is rare to witness a dad encouraging his daughters to play a sport in Pakistan, especially when the family hails from a not so city area. But Fari’s father did just that. Despite pressure from their mom, who lamented that the girls would never get married if they wasted their days playing cricket and shunned the sport as inappropriate for her daughters, this father shared a secret camarderie with his girls.

Whether it was winning points at gully cricket or playing the big league, Fari’s dad, who could not visit the playground himself due to being restricted in a wheelchair, and braving a very dominating wife, let his daughters win at life. Despite some poignant and dark moments later in the narrative, Fari’s dad also goes through a journey and comes through on the other side. The bond between the two marked some super intense moments and also reminded us that for many young girls, and their dads, who surmounted monumental obstacles to achieve their dreams, it’s not always fun and games.

Baap, beti, cricket, and of course unwavering support!

Yet, Fari’s dad gave us goals that defied that showed that true support, trust, a strong bond, and companionship from parents can weave magic in the lives of children.

Syed Tanveer Hussain In Zard Patton Ka Bunn

Have we seen a father dancing in celebration when his daughter topped her district? The answer is a big no. In village settings, this is rare. In our dramas, we usually see fathers wanting their daughters to marry after passing matriculation to lessen their ‘bojh’. However, in this case, something entirely new, unique, and visually pleasing happened. Meenu’s father danced along with her, celebrating the moment because “usne zil’lay me top kia hy.“

Not just that, but he is the lone force standing up for Meenu when she wants to pursue college education and also sources a bike to go to college. Meenu’s father is giving goals to village dads that this too, is fatherhood, and a great role model he is, if we may so!

This moment and lighthearted dance stole our breath away.

Syed Tanveer Hussain, who played Meenu’s father, made it visually appealing to see a father celebrating and supporting his daughter. He stood tall and strong as a backbone for his daughter, something we need more often in our dramas, but sadly, such scenes are rare. The relationship between Meenu and her father is the cherry on top while watching Zard Patton Ka Bunn.

These Father roles had a profound impact on the audience who watched them. We applaud all the writers for crafting such stirring and influential characters. Certainly, we need more stories and characters like these. A father is and will always be a daughter’s hero and her first love! Happy Father’s Day in advance from us to all fathers out there!

However, the question persists: why don’t we see such characters more often? Ponder on this and share your thoughts with us below!
