1. Jinn Ki Shadi, Unki Shadi: First Two Episodes

Jinn Ki Shadi, Unki Shadi: First Episodes Review
Jinn Ki Shadi, Unki Shadi

This time the war is not between two landlords or two gangs—it’s the jinn family versus the human family. But wait, that’s not all! The main twist is that the prized female jinn of the tribe, has fallen in love with a human—who happens to be the younger brother in the human family. So here you get drama, fantasy, supernatural elements, and romance, all bundled into one script.

Asad and Ali’s father’s will requires both brothers to spend six months in a haveli outside the city, and Ali must marry within that time to inherit their father’s wealth—worth about Rs. 80 crores, which comprises the haveli. The plot twist? The haveli is haunted by a family of jinns who have lived there for years. Upset by the human intrusion, the jinns are determined to drive them out, especially with an approaching wedding in the tribe—it would be shameful for them if other jinns discovered the humans living there.

2. Charlie Kirk Shot Dead At Utah Valley University

Charlie Kirk
Charlie Kirk

On September 10, Kirk was on the first stop of his new American Comeback Tour at Utah Valley University. The event had drawn more than 3,000 people under a tent stamped with slogans like Prove Me Wrong. The format was familiar: Kirk seated with a microphone, taking questions directly from students. But not everyone came to cheer him on. In the run-up to the event, petitions had circulated demanding the university cancel his visit.

Protesters gathered outside, chanting against his Zionist positions, his opposition to Palestinian statehood, and his hardline stances on LGBTQ+ and racial issues. For them, Kirk wasn’t a defender of free speech — he was a megaphone for division. Just minutes into the program, a single shot was fired from a nearby rooftop. Witnesses described a sudden crack, then Kirk clutching his neck as blood streamed down. Panic followed — people screamed, children were pulled close, and the crowd scattered in shock. He was rushed to the hospital, but within hours he was announced dead.

3. Worsening Flood Emergency In Punjab, Pakistan

KP Struggles After Flash Floods: Deaths Reported, Villages Cut Off
Floods

This week, catastrophic flooding has submerged more than 4,000 villages across Punjab, displacing millions of people and devastating farmland. The overflowing Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers have inundated districts including Kasur, Jhang, Chiniot, Multan, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Vehari, and Hafizabad, leaving communities stranded and forcing large-scale evacuations. Authorities estimate over 4.2 million people are affected, with thousands of homes damaged and key infrastructure under water, worsening an already dire humanitarian crisis.

Relief efforts are underway, but the scale of the disaster demands urgent national and international assistance. People can help by donating to trusted organizations working with the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and NGOs providing food baskets, clean water, shelter kits, blankets, and medical aid. Support for livestock rescue and rural livelihoods is also critical, as millions depend on agriculture. Raising awareness, mobilizing volunteers, and channeling resources to verified aid groups remain vital to support recovery for the millions impacted.

4. Jama Taqseem: First Two Episodes

Jama Taqseem: First Episodes, First Review
Jama Taqseem

Jama Taqseem makes a feel-good, relatable, and thought-provoking impression with its first two episodes. The love story of Laila and Qais—two individuals from completely different family backgrounds—is finely interwoven with joint family issues, harassment, and a clash of ideologies. The show is supported by an impressive cast who deliver strong performances.

Jama Taqseem shows us two worlds: Qais’s family, still holding on to old, traditional, and in many ways conservative values, and Laila’s family, progressive and adapting to changing times. This contrast mirrors real life, which makes the relatability factor very high. Often, you feel this is a story you might have witnessed somewhere near you.

5. Protests Sweep Across Nepal

Nepal Protests
Nepal Protests

Nepal has been rocked by mass protests, largely driven by young demonstrators angered by corruption, inequality, and restrictions on free expression. The government’s recent ban on 26 social media platforms, including Facebook and YouTube, sparked nationwide outrage, with rallies spreading from Kathmandu to cities such as Pokhara, Biratnagar, Butwal, Itahari, Birgunj, and Jhapa. Security forces have responded with curfews, tear gas, rubber bullets, and even live rounds, fueling further unrest and intensifying calls for political change.

The clashes have turned deadly, with at least 51 people killed and over 1,300 injured. Amid mounting pressure, Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli resigned, and the government has since lifted the social media ban in an effort to calm tensions. Discussions are now underway about forming an interim administration, with figures like former Chief Justice Sushila Karki floated as possible leaders. While the immediate crisis has eased slightly, the protests have left Nepal in a state of political uncertainty, with demonstrators demanding long-term reforms to restore trust in governance.

6. Suicide Awareness And Support In Pakistan

suicide prevention day
Suicide Prevention Day

Pakistan lacks a formal national suicide database, and official statistics are not included in morbidity or mortality surveys. What we do know, however, is deeply concerning. A retrospective study of medicolegal records from Karachi (2017–2021) showed rising trends in suicide and self-harm across age groups. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Institute of Living and Learning (PILL) confirmed in 2024 that suicide has become the fourth leading cause of death in the country, cutting across gender and socioeconomic divides.

The issue affects both men and women, the young and the old. For youth under 30, who make up over 60% of the country’s population, the pressures of academics, relationships, and unemployment can be overwhelming. For adults, financial hardship, domestic disputes, mental illness, chronic disease, and social isolation are significant drivers. The easy availability of toxic substances such as wheat pills, germicides, and rat poison has also made attempts more lethal.

Despite challenges, there are lifelines available across the country. These helplines provide free, confidential support to those in distress and are a critical part of Pakistan’s suicide prevention landscape, check them out here!

Quaid-e-Azam

Born in Karachi in 1876, Jinnah was a lawyer, politician, and the driving force behind the creation of Pakistan in 1947. His sharp intellect, unyielding determination, and unshakable belief in the rights of Muslims in the subcontinent carved out history itself. Yet beyond the eloquent speeches and political struggles, there was a man of personal habits, tastes, and tender moments.

This year, as we reflect on his death anniversary, we thought to focus not on the statesman alone, but on the person behind the title – to uncover the little things about Quaid-e-Azam that many of us may not know even after all these years.

Take a look at lesser-known facts about Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah here!

9. Israel’s Strike On Doha: What Happened And Why It Matters

Israel’s Strike on Doha: What Happened and Why It Matters
Israel’s Strike On Doha

On September 9, chaos erupted in Doha after Israel carried out an airstrike targeting senior Hamas leaders meeting in the Qatari capital. The attack, which struck the Katara district – a busy, residential, and tourist area – killed at least six people, including the son of Hamas negotiator Khalil al-Hayya, aides, and a Qatari security officer. Eyewitnesses described massive blasts, smoke rising over the city, and residents fleeing for cover.

Israel later confirmed responsibility, saying the strike was aimed at the ‘senior leadership of Hamas,’ whom it blames for the October 7 attacks and a recent deadly shooting in Jerusalem. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu doubled down, declaring that no Hamas leader was safe ‘anywhere in the world.’ He insisted the operation was solely Israeli and carried out once an “operational opportunity” presented itself.
