Catch up on the drama scenes that impressed us this week. With two new dramas on the block, the scenes have amped up for sure, so don’t miss this one before next week’s episodes roll in.

1. Jama Taqseem and Joint Family Shenanigans

Qais’s family giving us full on joint family vibes as they all decide to dress up and show up for Qais’s ‘baat pakki.’ It was an amusing moment when the family piled into two cars and invited Qais to squeeze in as well. That sure must have elicited a giggle from many watching on the other side of the screen.
We rate this scene and the one following it, when they all offload from the vehicles as super high on the relatable charts. If you’re a desi family, you must have been there and done that. Seeing yourself onscreen is always a win for creators, they aced the scene!

On a more serious note. Sidra’s inner torments also touched a nerve. A young girl, reaching adulthood and struggling on multiple fronts – a bullying older cousin, sharing a room and being blackmailed, compared to her cousin, and gradually closing in on herself is a red flag for most parents. But Sidra’s mother Rashida is oblivious to the silent torture her daughter is undergoing – lost in the everyday grind of cooking, kitchen duties and managing her children’s and in-laws’ everyday needs.
Again, a super relatable and intensely alarming scenario for parents of young children – the silent torture signs not to miss in a young adult.
2. Main Manto Nahi Hoon
Farhad letting drop his tough guy feels to give us a desperately pleading for his life avatar was a surprise. Was this the same walking talking red flag we spotted earlier with Mehmal and Ifra? The drama delivered a twist to audiences, one we weren’t expecting but one that certainly added more intriguing layers to the character who continues to intrigue. The follow up scene with Hammad taking a shot at the guard to save Farhad’s life was also a head-turner.
Well done team MMNH, giving us a thrilling watch in this episode.

And now cut to SIraj aka Asif Raza Mir absolutely livid with Farhad for Farhading his way into Mehmal’s life. If expressions could act, Farhad would be dead and buried, but not before he was reduced to a million pieces right there, before Siraj’s rage, that was certainly being kept under control, to release but just one slap, a resounding one though. The scene had us at the edge of our seats as one wondered what Siraj would do with Farhad, but he let his eyes do the talking, and somehow, this time, Siraj’s fury seemed to creep across the screen to envelope the entire scene.
An intense watch!

3. Biryani
Nisa explaining to Maheen, oh what is this thing called love, where she has zero control over her actions, thoughts, emotions or behaviour was absolutely poetic and deeply expressive. Nisa’s utter helplessness and pain at not being in control of herself, obsessed with another person, was super relatable to everyone who knows the feeling – it’s called falling in love, as Maheen explained simply.
Easy to say for you Maheen, you’re not the one hit by Cupid’s very pointed arrow – Nisa is feeling it and we loved the way this scene unraveled. Well played Ramsha Khan.

“I needed you, then you became a habit, and then, I fell in love…” When Meeran tells Nisa he can’t live without her, that the university experience in its entirety meant Nisa for him, it was powerful scripting and performance that won hearts here. Khushhal Khan got into the deepest layers of what it means to be in love and gave full voice to the dialogue here. We felt it Meeran, and we hear you!

4. Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi
Oh dear, Ali C. is in his element humming to the Ehd e Wafa OST while we catch the very first glimpses of Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi. The scene delivered the carefree, feel-good parts of the drama but not without zooming out to give us a gorgeous backdrop, winding road, rolling hills and a character and music to complete the feels. Well done team JKSUKS you knew how to play it in the opening scene!

Did it move? Now you see it, now you don’t! Zara and Asad contemplate the moving clock and a sudden alarm ringing as the spooks descend upon the family. The scene deserves a shout out to both actors and the director – great comic timing there and the haunted feels hinted that there was so much more to expect in this drama, that this was but just the beginning.

Zara slicing the onions, eyes streaming with tears – wait a minute, what? Zara turning around to see the onions are back to square one – let’s start all over again. Zara asking Asad for help. Wait a minute, what? Zara seeing Asad walk in to the kitchen once more. Deja Vu with all the spooks is what JKUKS delivered in this scene. Sidra Niazi as Zara positively aced the scene in her shock, fear, and then, up again on her feet later to tackle the spirits and win her prize. We couldn’t have imagined it any better.
This scene made for an entertaining watch!

Speaking of entertaining watch, Nadia’s hair standing on end was perhaps a scene that we didn’t know we needed. Khushi has played her first move and Nadia came directly in the line of fire! If unexpected is what the makers were aiming for, they hit the jackpot as both Ali C and audiences weren’t expecting Nadia to get a makeover so soon!
Well done Team JKSUKS, you seem to have understood the assignment and we’re taking it all in, two episodes at a time!

And that’s all folks, wait for next week for more standout drama scenes, and if we missed one, do comment below which scene you think should have been added in our drama scenes of the week!
